In 1982, Dr. Frank Grant introduced his nephew, Jesse Hubbard, to a candy stripper named Angie Baxter at Pine Valley Hospital. This marked the beginning of daytime’s first Black supercouple. Jesse, a street-smart and charismatic young man, fell deeply in love with Angie, an ambitious and determined young woman with dreams of becoming a doctor. Their romance was filled with passion, obstacles, and unforgettable moments that kept viewers invested for decades. Jesse and Angie’s story broke barriers.


This marked the beginning of the most iconic Black daytime super couple. This love story was nothing short of groundbreaking. Their story broke barriers captivated audiences, and cemented their place in soap opera history. The impact of Jesse and Angie’s story reached far beyond All My Children. Their presence on daytime television was a milestone in Black
representation, proving that Black love stories were just as powerful, complex, and deserving of the spotlight as any other. Their struggles and triumphs resonated with viewers from all backgrounds.

Their story took an unexpected turn when Jesse was presumed dead in 1988, leaving Angie to raise their son, Frankie, alone. For years, fans mourned the loss of one of their favorite characters—until a shocking twist brought Jesse back to life in 2008. His dramatic return
reignited their love story, proving their bond could stand the test of time.

The Hubbard family’s legacy extended beyond Jesse and Angie with their son, Frankie Hubbard, who followed in Angie’s footsteps, becoming a doctor before tragically losing his life, and their adoptive daughter, Cassandra Foster, who brought new challenges and drama to the family
dynamic.


As one of Pine Valley’s most beloved families, the Hubbards were more than just another soap opera clan—they were pioneers. Even after All My Children ended, the Hubbard family’s legacy lives on.
