Soap fans have always been accustomed to recasts. It is simply part of the genre. And Days of Our Lives is no stranger to the practice.
In fact, the show has recast several roles in recent months. Since the series films many months in advance, some of these casting changes actually happened in 2025 but will not appear on screen until this year.
One of the biggest surprises is the return of Lexie Carver.
The role has been recast with actress and soap newcomer Nikki Crawford, who makes her debut on Friday, March 6 on the Peacock drama.
Lexie Carver Returns From the Dead
The role of Lexie has been played by several actresses over the years. However, the character is most closely associated with Renée Jones, who portrayed Lexie from 1993 until 2012.
When Jones retired from acting, the character was written out and killed off the show.
Now, in a surprising twist, Lexie is back from the dead as Crawford takes over the role.
Rachel Black and the DiMera Kids Recast
In other Days of Our Lives recast news, Alice Halsey has made her final appearance as Rachel Black.
Halsey debuted in the role in 2025 after taking over from Finley Rose Salter. Her last episode aired on March 5, 2026. Another actress will soon take over the role, although a name and debut date have not yet been revealed.
Recently exited stars Cary Christopher (Thomas), Billy Flynn (Chad), and Autumn Gendron (Charlotte) are also part of the recast shakeup.
All three exited the Peacock soap in February when Chad left Salem with his children.
Flynn has already landed a new role. He can now be seen on The Young and the Restless, where he is a recast himself, playing the role of Cane Ashby.
Meanwhile, the role of Chad DiMera has been recast with Connor Floyd, who previously played Chance on Y&R. Floyd is set to make his Days of Our Lives debut in April 2026.
The role of Thomas DiMera will also be recast the next time the character appears on screen, although a new actor has not yet been announced. As for Charlotte, it is widely assumed the role will be recast as well when the character returns.
More Casting Changes Coming
Other actors on the recast list include Marissa Reyes, who has exited the role of Arianna Horton, and Al Calderon, who played Javi Hernandez.
While Calderon has been off screen as Javi for some time, word is that we have not seen the last of him nor the character. However, a new actor will reportedly take over the role by May.
A new actress will also be stepping in as Arianna Horton soon.
