This week on General Hospital, Luke Spencer says “Goodbye, Port Charles” once again. The episode, which originally aired on July 27, 2015, marked Tony Geary’s final appearance before he stepped away from the role, retired, and moved to Amsterdam, where he planned to spend the rest of his life, and did just that.
Geary, who devoted decades of work to the ABC daytime drama, passed away on December 14. This encore airing serves as the show’s first way of honoring the actor, who won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for his iconic portrayal of Luke Spencer.
In the latest GH promo, which focuses solely on Geary, viewers see Luke out on the familiar docks after a conversation with Sonny (Maurice Benard). As Sonny is seen walking away, the voiceover announcer invites fans to tune in for a very special encore celebrating the unforgettable legacy of Tony Geary and Luke Spencer.
Next, we see Luke and Sonny share a heartfelt hug on the docks. With a bag slung over his shoulder, Luke quietly delivers the words, “Goodbye, Port Charles.” In the actual episode, Luke adds, “Good luck,” before walking off into the night and the screen goes dark.
