Kirsten Storms has shared a thoughtful and very honest update with fans after taking a temporary leave from General Hospital, where she plays Maxie Jones. The actress stepped away from the show to relocate from Los Angeles to Tennessee and to focus on her health, and her latest Instagram post gave fans a clearer picture of how she is really doing.

Kirsten Storms Health Update

Storms kicked off the post with a warm holiday greeting, writing, “Seasons Greetings, my insta-friends! I hope everyone is enjoying the winter break with their family and loved ones. Although the cold weather has been met with a lot of complaining from me (to anyone around me), I’m kinda LOVING it. And I definitely freaked out at the sight of some *very small* snow flurries…that melted as soon as they touched…anything. Couldn’t get the smile off my face in that moment if I tried.”

She then shifted gears and addressed her health, explaining that she recently saw a new neurosurgeon in St. Louis. According to Storms, she has been placed in what the doctor called the “gray zone” when it comes to her brain aneurysm. “It’s not super small, but it’s not at the mandatory surgery size,” she wrote, explaining that she can either continue monitoring it or choose to have a coiling procedure done. The best news, she shared, is that she is not in immediate danger. “He told me I wasn’t in immediate/“OMG! It’s going to burst tomorrow!” kind of danger.”

Back to General Hospital?

Obviously, that’s great news. Even so, Storms admitted she is still wrestling with what to do next. She explains, “Trying to see if I’m comfortable with the “wait and see if it gets worse” plan. I do know that I am not eager to hop right on the operating table.”

The actress also took time to thank fans for the overwhelming support she has received. “I want you guys to know that I really do appreciate the messages and stories offered of your own experiences. I needed those….and I had no idea (weird how that works, right?). Super easy to be silly and have fun on these platforms, but getting deep about online rumors and my feelings about them? Hah….i’d rather switch to decaf coffee.”

As she ran out of jokes, it was time to end her post with a fun tease. “Welp I’m out of jokes, so I’m gonna say 🎄HAPPY HOLIDAYS 🎄and maaaaybe you will be seeing me back in Port Charles soon.”
