On October 22, 2025, David Lami Friebe made his soap opera debut on Beyond the Gates as Izaiah Hawthorne, and boy, are we intrigued.
Who is Izaiah on Beyond the Gates?
Izaiah was introduced as the black sheep of his family, and one thing’s clear: he’s no Jacob. In an interview, Head Writer Michele Val Jean revealed that this young man gets a helping hand from someone who will definitely surprise us. She also teased that Izaiah will become a new love interest for one of the show’s lucky ladies.
On top of that, he’s stepping into the world of Banneker University as a counselor, opening up an entirely new setting for fans to explore. “He’s very cute, he’s very sexy, and he’s a good actor,” Val Jean said. “I’m really happy to have him on our canvas.”
Soap Grade for David Lami Friebe
So far, we’ve seen Izaiah in a few scenes at Uptown, including his first appearance opposite Ambyr Michelle’s Eva Thomas, and the chemistry was immediate. It’s like Friebe walked in and lit up the screen. He’s easy on the eyes (big plus), he’s got the charm (another plus), and he’s mastered that air of mystery that has fans eager to learn more.
When it comes to his acting, Friebe delivers with ease and confidence. Sure, it’s early days, but from what we’ve seen, he’s got it. The look, the energy, the presence, and most importantly, he’s got us hooked.
So, for our soap grade, David Lami Friebe earns a solid A.
