It was definitely a surprise when it was announced that Stacy Haiduk would be returning to The Young and the Restless as Patty Williams.
And naturally, fans of Days of Our Lives immediately started wondering what that might mean for her roles as Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks on the Peacock soap.
Haiduk officially made her on-screen return to Y&R on Friday, March 6, and so far, fans are thrilled to see Patty back in Genoa City.
Haiduk Opens Up About Her Days Status
However, in a recent interview with TVLine, Haiduk talked about her return to the CBS daytime drama and also addressed her current status with Days of Our Lives.
The actress explained that she isn’t currently under contract with the long-running soap, something that has been difficult for her at times.
“They put my characters to rest sometimes, and I’m always sad because I love that show and my characters so much,” she shared. “When they did it in January, I was disappointed. But when this came up, it couldn’t have been more perfect to just roll into another character that I love very much.”
Even though she’s currently back on Y&R, Haiduk made it clear that she would happily return to Salem if the opportunity came along.
“Look, I’m an actress. I love acting, so yeah, absolutely I would,” she said. “I miss the characters when I’m not there.”
In fact, Haiduk compared it to how much she had missed being part of Y&R over the years.
“I’ve wanted so much to be back on Y&R at some point in my life because I missed the people and I missed the character of Patty.”
Fans Can Still See Her on Days
Thanks to the very different production schedule for Days of Our Lives, fans will still be seeing Haiduk on the Peacock soap through the end of the year.
That means viewers will have the chance to enjoy her performances as Kristen and Susan while also watching her step back into Patty’s shoes on The Young and the Restless.
“I hope the fans will watch double duty of Y&R and Days,” Haiduk said. “They can watch Kristen and Susan, then come on over and watch a little Patty. I’m really excited for them to watch all of the characters.”
