For decades, he’s been the man in the background with the unfiltered mouth and the questionable life advice. We’ve seen him trade insults with Madea and stir up trouble from the porch, but now, Uncle Joe is finally getting his time to shine.
Netflix has officially confirmed that “Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Trip” will premiere on February 13, 2026.
Joe’s College Trip
The film follows Joe as he takes his grandson B.J. (Played by Jermaine Harris) on a cross-country tour of various colleges. What’s the aim? To teach the young generation “the real world.”
Of course, we know Joe! Teaching for him usually involves a lot of yelling, questionable legal maneuvers, and pure chaos. With the show’s official logline, “Tension gets high, but life-changing lessons are learned.”
Why Joe Now?
Actor and producer Tyler Perry recently shared that the character of Joe predates Madea. Many thinks madea was Tyler Perry’s first creation because she’s famous. However, Joe was featured in Perry’s first stage play “I know I’ve been changed” as far back as the 1990s, while Madea made her first debut in “I can do it all by myself” in 1999. Perry now feels it’s time for Joe to speak his mind, especially in the world we live in today. The show features a solid cast of Perry’s veteran actors
- Jermaine Harris as BJ
- Amber Reign Smith as Destiny
- Patricia Williams (Ms Pat) as Pearl
The Partnership
The film marks another chapter in Tyler Perry’s career, and a massive chapter is Perry’s multi-year deal with Netflix. It’s a part of the huge slate for the mogu,l which includes the season finale of Beauty in Black, the holiday film The Gospel of Christmas, and the highly anticipated Why Did I Get Married.
