General Hospital fans were less than thrilled when they tuned in for the continuation of their favorite soap, only to be met with special news coverage instead. Many hoped the interruption would be brief and that the show would air later in the hour. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Why General Hospital Was Preempted Today

Due to ongoing live news coverage, including President Donald Trump highlighting his administration’s accomplishments during a White House press briefing on Tuesday, January 21, General Hospital was fully preempted.

ABC executive Nathan Varni took to X to quickly update fans. He wrote, “Heads up, #GH fans. Due to ongoing live news coverage, today’s episode will now air tomorrow. Our Canadian viewers will see an encore tomorrow.”

When Today’s General Hospital Episode Will Air

The episode that was scheduled to air today will instead air tomorrow, barring any further news interruptions.

Canadian viewers were actually able to see the episode as scheduled. As a result, they will receive an encore airing on January 21.

What Viewers Will See in the Next GH Episode

The episode that was supposed to air picked up directly where the previous one left off.

In the final moments of the last episode, Willow and Drew popped champagne to celebrate her freedom. They toasted to the future, but the mood shifted fast. Willow suddenly injected a syringe into Drew’s neck and watched him collapse to the ground.

Everything will work out, Drew. You’ll see,” she said, echoing his own words, just before she shot him twice in the back in September.

Spoilers for the Delayed Episode

Spoilers reveal that Nina will be at the hospital, where she also crosses paths with Tracy. Tracy informs her that Drew is finally getting his karma.

Meanwhile, Britt asks Jason out on a date, while Lucas and Elizabeth are forced to rush into action when Drew is brought in for emergency treatment.

Elsewhere, Trina confides in Ava, and Cullum issues new orders. Michael and Chase also have a tense encounter that includes a couple of punches.

  1. This is bullsh*t. Trump does nothing but lie and destroy our country.
We don’t want to listen to him or see his criminal face.
GH SHOULD NOT BE PRE EMPTED FOR HIM!!!

    1. You need help.

    2. I pay to watch my shows
Put that piece of trash on the news channels when he wants to lie to the cameras
If his mouth is moving he is lying it talking out of his backside
The man needs to be committed
      He’s nuts
They need to stop taking the shows off for him

  3. Totally right. I agree.

  4. I agree. I had to leave it on but muted it so I didn’t have to listen to his voice and all his lies hoping he’d shut up and the show on.

  5. He’s pretty much the finest President ever. He puts America first. He needs to make Drew and Willow great again.

    1. Ew Rick Carter!

  6. Nobody in their right mind wants to hear a word Trump has to say. He’s a mess !

  7. He did drone on lying about his many “accomplishments “. Touting economy as prices soar , mtg rates rise, and stock market nose dived! His usual BS and LIES

  8. Like him or not, he is in fact the president, I guess you were happier with silent absent Joe.
I appreciate the fact that he pointed out the despicable people who protesters are attempting to protect from arrest. I personally prefer child rapists and murderers and the like not walking free either legal or illegal residents/neighbors and I live in Illinois where the legal system would rather let actual criminals free cuz, well, they just need one more chance.
I give ABC credit for actually allowing that aspect of his message which does not fit their narrative or their history of telling us what to think starting with Peter Jennings, in case you thought I was new to the fight. (BTW I had a huge crush on Peter and was shocked to see him explain what we had just seen in a report and how we should think about the speakers message.)
Now let’s be adults, take a deep breath, and find out tomorrow if Drew succumbs to Willow’s second attempt to do him in, although he’s probably the best evil character since Cesar Fasion who is apparently not dead after all.
    Quelle Surprise.

  9. Kathi you said it well.
