Performer of the Week: General Hospital once again stole our collective attention this week as post-strike Port Charles has raised the bar of storytelling and dramatic performances each and every week.

Just last week, Soap Opera News was so blown away by the performances of the entire cast of General Hospital while the community grieved, remembered, and honored the legacy of Bobbie Spencer and actress Jackie Zeman, who called the soap home for 46 years.

The powerhouse performances continued this week as, once again, we have to hand out another group accolade to everyone involved in the explosion of dramatic tension from this week’s kidnapping of Ace Prince-Cassadine.

Congratulations to Adam Huss, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, as well as Joey and Jay Clay for being this week’s Performers of the Week!

Performer of the Week General Hospital: Father and Son Reunited!

Audiences were left on the edge of their seats as Nikolas Cassadine showed up at Spencer’s doorstep to make amends before leaving town again. To his shock and honor, Spencer received Nikolas with surprising warmth and grace. The father and son began to put their past behind them.

It didn’t take long before the Cassadine minds of Nikolas and Spencer began to turn as, ultimately, Nikolas was able to convince Spencer to let Nik take Ace out of town and away from Esme.

The push and pull of right and wrong was on display between these two actors. The layered history of their relationship from before either actor stepped into their respective roles was tangible and real.

While Spencer and Nikolas may suffer from the pitfalls of volatile and challenging emotional connections, Adam Huss and Nicholas Alexander Chavez navigate each moment with an ease that has earned them the fast respect of soap fans worldwide.

Of course, the trained adult actors gripped our hearts with their performances, as did Joey and Jay Clay, who proved to be almost a Greek chorus throughout the scene. While unable to speak, the Clay twins seem to have a natural understanding of the relationship they’re meant to have with the characters on screen. From reaching for Nikolas to falling asleep mid-scene, Joey and Jay spoke volumes to the comfort Ace has with his brother Spencer as well as a natural bond with his father.
