Kelly Monaco fans are on an unwavering mission to have her reinstated at General Hospital as Sam McCall. The passionate fans have organized mobile billboards throughout Los Angeles and around Prospect Park Studios, in addition to launching various campaigns. The #IStandWithKelly movement has now made a powerful statement in New York Times Square, where a billboard went live on September 20, 2024.

The New York Times Square billboard is currently active next to the iconic red steps—because nothing says “We want our soap star back!” like a flashy billboard in the busiest tourist spot! See below.

A dedicated X (formerly Twitter) page for the #IStandWithKelly movement shares, “NYC is a huge tourist destination where ABC also has studios! We are hoping for more eyes on the petition with all of that foot traffic… and we will be sending GH & ABC photos of the billboard too, showing how widespread our message is. Next week, we’ll be back in LA.”

Kelly Monaco:

Monaco boasts a legion of devoted fans who have rallied together since the news broke on August 26 (first reported by Soap Opera Network), launching relentless campaigns to capture the attention of the powers that be. They’ve even initiated a petition that has amassed 14,964 signatures at the time of this report.

Best known for her iconic portrayal of Sam McCall on General Hospital, a role she has masterfully embodied since October 2003, Monaco’s significant contribution to the soap opera industry makes it clear why fans are outraged by the show’s shocking decision to let her go.

  1. they keep pissing their money away on this. 14K fans is not a lot to brag about. I am sure TPTB are like okay, we can deal without 14K fans. Waste of time and money.

  2. Actually, 14K fans ARE a lot of fans in the daytime television world. And that’s just the number of fans they know about. These days, daytime dramas are just hanging by a thread, and I cannot think of a single instance where something like this has ever happened. If GH loses Kelly, and just one more actor leaves, that show is OVER. Why don’t they get rid of Gio, Heather, and Lois. They’d get no complaints from anyone if that were to happen, especially since Heather’s no longer an evil murderer. Ship her back to Pentonville to finish her sentence, and forget about her poison artificial hip. Noone is buying or cares about that story anyway. Kelly stays, Heather goes.
