Chris McKenna, who now plays Jack Brennan on General Hospital, took to Instagram with a lovely tribute that read, “We lost a radiant soul and a daytime legend yesterday. Alice Hirson shone her light on this world for 95 glorious years. My family and I were so blessed to have her in our lives however briefly. Unforgettable woman. Her final words were “It’s nice to have an audience.” Thank you, Alice. Good night. Legend.”
Born on March 10, 1929, in New York City, Alice Hirson began her career on stage before making her mark on daytime soap operas such as Dallas, Another World (as Marcia Davis), Edge of the Night, where she played Stephanie Martin from 1969–1972, One Life to Live (as Eileen Riley Siegel from 1972 – 1976) and General Hospital as Mrs. Van Gelder in 1982.
However, Hirson began her television career appearing on the classic anthology series Hallmark Hall of Fame and Starlight Theatre. In addition to her work on soap operas, Hirson had a rich television career that included roles in hit series like Judging Amy, Will & Grace, NYPD Blue, ER, and more.
