Daytime Confidential broke the story that Ripa and Consuelos brought the writing duo aboard, and both Carlivati and Giddens have since double-checked the news on their own Instagram feeds.
Carlivati’s name will ring a bell for long-time soap lovers. After all, he’s a Daytime Emmy winner who previously ran the writers’ rooms at One Life to Live, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives, and most recently worked in a writing capacity on Beyond the Gates. Taking to Instagram, he shared: “Excited to confirm that @jameygiddens and I are writing the first of two ‘All My Children’ movies, coming soon to @lifetimetv!”
For Giddens, the announcement lands right as he’s stepping up as co-head writer for The Young and the Restless alongside Dan O’Connor. In fact, he reported to work for the first time this week.
He couldn’t hide his hype on Instagram, posting: “I’ve been booked and busy in 2026. Before I received the life-changing offer to co-head write @youngandrestlesscbs, Andrew Stearn (@redcoatroad), the @agnesnixonamc estate, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos tapped @carlivatiron and me to write the first of two planned All My Children reunion movies for @lifetimetv! Honoring Agnes Nixon’s Legacy in Present-Day Pine Valley
The iconic series originally ran on ABC from January 1970 straight through September 2011, before picking up a short online second life in 2013 via The Online Network. Created by the legendary Agnes Nixon, this new incarnation is being crafted in close partnership with her estate.
Ripa and Consuelos recently opened up to The Los Angeles Times about resurrecting the show, revealing they’ll both be making quick cameos in the first film. Set firmly in the present day, the revival will catch up with where fan favorites like Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Maria Santos Grey (Eva LaRue) have landed after all these years.
