On Friday, May 2nd, Allison Lanier will wrap her run as Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless. Lanier was the one to share the news herself via a post on X, which read, “Hi guys!! This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R! I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but it’s time to grow in a different direction… very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me.”
The news comes as quite the surprise to her fans, who quickly jumped to reply to let her know how much they’ll miss her. Lanier succeeded Hunter King in the role, making her debut in May 2022. Since her debut, Summer’s storyline has mainly focused on her role as a mother, the breakdown of her marriage to Kyle (Michael Mealor), a romance with Chance (Conner Floyd), her work at Marchetti and so much more.
In Thursday’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Summer will deal with a professional crisis. This raises questions about whether this is a goodbye for the character or if there will be a recast. While there’s no official update yet, be sure to stay tuned to Soap Opera News for the latest information. We wholeheartedly wish Allison Lanier tremendous success in her future endeavors.
