You can call her an Emmy Award winner! The Beyond the Gates star, Ambyr Michelle, who brings Eva Thomas to life, took home the coveted statuette for Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series at the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, October 30, in Los Angeles.

And what a moment it was!

Ambyr Michelle Beats Some Tough Competition to Win Her First Emmy!

The talented newcomer beat out some impressive competition, including her own Beyond the Gates co-star Arielle Prepetit (Naomi), Braedyn Bruner (Emma, General Hospital), Alice Halsey (Rachel, Days of Our Lives), Giovanni Mazza (Gio, General Hospital), and Al Calderon (ex-Javi, Days of Our Lives).

Michelle’s historic win comes just over a year and a half after the CBS soap made its splashy debut in February 2025. Marking an unforgettable milestone for the freshman series, Michelle secured the show’s very first acting win of the night, while also becoming just the second actress ever to win in the newly minted Emerging Talent category.

An Emotional Acceptance Speech

Taking the stage to accept her award, Michelle was a radiant mix of tears, pure joy, and unbridled excitement. She greeted the crowd with her character’s signature catchphrase—“Mamuh!”—just like her alter ego Eva would say on Beyond the Gates.

“First, I have to thank the Lord, my bestie, my everything, the one who loves me out loud, and I will do the same,” Michelle shared during her heartfelt speech. “I don’t just see an award. I see every audition, every rejection, every moment I questioned my artistry.”

Turning her attention to the character that brought her to the Emmy stage, she added, “And to Eva Thomas, thank you, girl. Playing your pain made me process my own.“

Michelle closed her speech with a powerful, empowering message directed straight at the audience and viewers watching at home: “To my beautiful Black women and girls, take up space, be undeniable, create your tables, and fill those seats. When the tables are full, and those seats are full, make the table even bigger. So that the women coming up behind you never have to ask permission to belong.“

From Salon Chair to Daytime Royalty

Michelle has been an integral part of the newest daytime drama since day one. Viewers were first introduced to Eva when she entered the Richardson household as Nicole Richardson’s personal assistant—a position made vacant after her scheming mother, Leslie, ran previous assistant Laura off the road so Eva could step right into her shoes! It wasn’t long after that Leslie and Eva crashed Nicole and Ted’s grand anniversary bash to drop the ultimate bomb: Eva is actually Ted’s daughter with Leslie.

From the very first moment this talented actress stepped onto our screens, daytime fans knew accolades would follow quickly. In fact, Soap Opera News previously crowned Ambyr Michelle as the Best Soap Newcomer of 2025 for her stellar work on the CBS serial.

An accomplished American actress, writer, director, and dancer, Michelle is part of a groundbreaking ensemble cast that has earned massive critical acclaim in its very first year.

Created by daytime veteran Michele Val Jean, Beyond the Gates premiered on CBS on February 24, 2025, following the lives, loves, and high-stakes secrets of the prestigious Dupree family and the residents of the fictional gated community of Fairmont Crest. With an Emmy win now officially under her belt, Ambyr Michelle has cemented her place as one of daytime’s brightest rising stars!
