Congratulations are in order for One Life to Live alum, Andrew Trischitta, and his fiancée, Monica Mamudo! Soap Opera News caught up with the man of the moment, who spilled the beans on his epic proposal plan.

He revealed, “I had the idea planned out weeks in advance—a highly coordinated effort between multiple people to execute the plan to perfection. My goal was to ask on her birthday. So I sneakily convinced Monica to help plan her own ‘birthday’ party!”

They gathered supplies for a traditional Brazilian barbecue, including picanha (steak), pão de queijo (cheese bread), brigadeiro (a chocolatey dessert), and Guaraná (soda), along with birthday decorations. Unbeknownst to Monica, Andrew had coordinated with their friends to pull off the proposal during a sunset photoshoot. Andrew quipped, “One of these friends is a photographer, Paula, and she was crucial in getting Monica distracted during what I have codenamed ‘Operation: Silly Birthday Photoshoot,’ a.k.a. keeping Monica busy while I get down on one knee.”

How It All Went Down!

Recalling the moment he popped the question, Andrew details, “I had just thrown the picanha on the grill. Everyone was there, and the sun started to set. Time for action. First I had to get some paper towels to clean a spill, meaning get the ring ready, hidden within a jacket I was wearing. We went to take some birthday pictures because the light was perfect. Paula instructed us to do some twirls—jump on each other’s backs—all the typical couple poses.

After a round of pictures, she said, ‘Now, you walk towards me with Andrew just behind.’ My hand trailed out of hers; I let her get a few steps ahead of me. Paula told Monica to hold her pose for the golden shot. Everyone else started crowding around behind the camera. Monica thought I was doing something embarrassing behind her, and when she turned around to check…”

You know what happened next! He asked—Monica said yes!

He adds, “My hands were shaking while opening the box, and then a monumental hug and kiss after she said yes.”

And just to top it off, the picanha survived the grilling! Andrew says, “After all that, I am happy to tell you the picanha did not burn, and we enjoyed the rest of the evening with good company, good food, and good times.”
