Anne Schoettle is back in daytime! This time, she’s serving in the capacity of Script Editor on General Hospital. Schoettle’s name appeared in the credits of the ABC daytime drama on September 5, marking her debut episode in this new role. She joins the writing team, which has seen some notable changes in recent months.

Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten are the co-head writers, while Cathy LePard serves as the associate head writer.

If Anne Schoettle’s name rings a bell, it’s likely because of her impactful contributions to iconic soap operas like Days of our Lives (where she held the position of Head Writer from January 1990 to June 1991), Port Charles, Sunset Beach, The Young and the Restless, Guiding Light, and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Schoettle is married to David Shaughnessy, and together they have daughters named Amy, Katie, and Josie. Shaughnessy boasts an impressive career having directed shows such as Days of Our Lives, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and The Restless. He is also the brother of actor Charles Shaughnessy, who is known for his roles as Victor Cassadine on General Hospital and Shane Donovan on Days of our Lives.

Excited about her mom’s return to daytime, Amy shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Look out #SoapTwitter, Anne Schoettle is BACK! #GeneralHospital #ScriptEditor”
