Such is its impact that Soap Opera News had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Annie Jones, Georgie Stone, and Stefan Dennis. Check it out below!

SON: So, it’s evident that the show is really making an impact. We are thrilled to discuss the show today, especially because it’s its first Daytime Emmys nomination, which is monumental. We’re curious to hear your thoughts on the show’s first-time nomination?

Annie: We are so thrilled, so honored, and you know we don’t even think about winning, but it’s enough for us to be nominated.

Stefan: Yeah, yeah, we’re certainly, this is our first foray into cracking America big time, which is fantastic. We’ve done very, very, very well over in the UK and Europe over the years, and Australia obviously. So, yes to be welcomed into America and Canada is pretty amazing.

SON: You both are in LA for the Emmys already, We just saw some news about that, you must be pretty excited?

Annie and Stefan: Oh yes, we are presenting an award.

SON: Tell us about the characters you play on Neighbours and what it means to you to actually play these characters.

Annie: I play Jane Harris. She started on the show back in the 80s. I was on it for about three years from when I was 19 to 21, and I was a schoolgirl who grew up and was a poor Robinsons sister for a little while. She had a very overbearing grandmother who Jane ended up leaving the show to go on her craft by leaving the UK to look after her grandmother. Years later—30 years later in 2018, she came back, initially for a little visit, and then she stayed. I’m still here. Now, she’s a suburban middle-aged woman with two children, an ex-husband, a lover who’s virtually away, and she’s also the school principal at the local school.

Stefan: We had a fling as well.

Annie: Yeah, we did.

Georgie: You did????

Stefan: We had a little bit of unfinished business, as my dad would have called it.

Annie: So, that’s Jane Harris.

Stefan: Paul Robinson kicked off the scene on January 1985. He left university when he was a university student. His dad was aggrieved and he went to the airlines, he became an airline student. He worked there for a couple of years and met a girl, with whom he had a child out of wedlock. He didn’t know about this child until three years later, which is quite funny. He later married a character named Gail Lewis, and by then he had entered the world of business under the guidance of his aunty, Rosemary, who lived in New York. He eventually started a business in Las Vegas with a guy named Jack Lassiter. I think Paul eventually bought the hotel from him. There was also a whole business with Mr. Udagawa, but that’s another story. I’ve been married six times, have seven children and nine wives. My character is pretty much immortal because I’ve survived being shot, stabbed, pushed off a cliff twice, drowned, and been in numerous car accidents and explosions. I’ve been lost and left for dead multiple times, but I’m still alive. He’s a business mogul and a bit of a villain, but still very likable.

Georgie: I play MacKenzie Hargreaves. She’s the first trans character in the neighborhood, which is a real honor to play. She started as a schoolgirl at Erinsborough trying to look for her dad. Now, she’s grown up and working as a lawyer at the age of 22. She’s a fully qualified lawyer and also a very young widow. She fell in love and married someone who died a couple of days later. She does her best to be a nice, helpful citizen, but sometimes gets caught up in situations she doesn’t mean to be part of. Despite that, she’s a sweetheart, and it’s a real joy and honor to play MacKenzie, a character I also pitched to the show. So, I feel extra protective of her.

SON: Alright, when introducing the show to new viewers, you have the challenge of summarizing it in just three words. What would your top three descriptors be?

Stefan: Entertaining, Relatable and Bright

Annie: Wholesome, Addictive and Dependable

Georgie: Warm, Hilarious and Unhinged

Stefan: I’m gonna add my fourth one Georgie said it before progressive
