Anthony Geary is living his best life in Amsterdam. The former General Hospital actor, best known for originating the role of Luke Spencer back in 1978, made history by winning a record eight Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor for his work on the series before his retirement.
Even though he’s moved on from the day-to-day of soap life, General Hospital will always be a big part of his history and memories. This week, he got a nostalgic moment while watching the latest episode of State of Mind, where two of his former GH colleagues appeared. Maurice Benard interviewed Genie Francis, who plays the iconic Laura Spencer.
For longtime GH fans, Luke and Laura are one of daytime television’s most legendary couples. Their love story — from Luke’s bad-boy charm to Laura’s strength and resilience — captivated audiences for decades and remains a high point in the show’s history. Watching the interview brought back all those memories for Geary and fans alike.
Thanks to a new post on Instagram by Geary’s real-life partner, Claudio, we got a glimpse of Anthony Geary taking in the episode.
Anthony Geary Watches State of Mind
Claudio wrote, “This evening I showed Tony the State of Mind show from @MauriceBenard’s latest YouTube video series with guest Genie Francis, and it really made Tony very happy.”
According to Claudio, Geary said, “Those are two lovely and talented people, great friends, and I miss them.“
Afterward, Benard couldn’t resist resharing the clip. His caption read, “The only thing better than Genie Francis on @mbstateofmind is Tony Geary watching Genie on State of Mind. I have the utmost respect for Tony. I saw him in a one-man play. I’ve never seen better acting in my life. Soap operas began with Tony and Genie, and I’m so happy to consider them my friends.”
