Asher Antonyzyn, the rising star of General Hospital who plays Danny Morgan on the ABC daytime drama, sauntered into the Daily Drama podcast for an interview with his co-stars Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) and his on-screen pops Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). During their chat, Antonyzyn revealed that he thought landing a gig on GH was a long shot.

He recounted how his mom found an open casting call for some modeling agency in Chicago, and he reluctantly agreed to take classes—because his mom’s persuasive skills are top-notch! Well, after a year of classes, he jumped into this thing called the IMTAs, where he competed in a bunch of acting and modeling competitions. Off to California he went at the tender age of 12, where his life took a very fun turn. He did pretty well and soon after discovered his agent, which led to a whirlwind of self-tapes and auditions. Then, lo and behold—six months later—the GH audition came up.

Naturally, they thought it would be a long shot, but nonetheless, they went for it! Ten days later, they got the call for an in-person audition. So, they took “Hail Mary,” and Asher, albeit nervous, strutted into the studio for his big moment—but he came out successful for what is now his first gig!

According to Asher, his mom, who was a theater major in college, couldn’t be prouder of her son. Despite living in Chicago, he continues to commute back and forth for his recurring role on the ABC sudser. You can hear all about his wild ride in the embedded YouTube video below!
