Bayley Corman is a well known actress but she recently made her debut on daytime soap operas as she briefly stepped in as a temporary Summer Newman recast on The Young and the Restless. Corman was called upon to fill-in for Hunter King who was filming her part in Life In Pieces. Corman who was born in Boise, Idaho is probably best known for her work on Modern Family and Jane The Virgin. Luckily, Soap Opera News got the chance to talk with Corman about her brief daytime gig, her upcoming projects, if she would return to Y&R full time and much more. Read the full interview below!

Congratulations on landing your first daytime gig with the role of Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless. Can you share how did you land the role and what was it like being a part of the cast for the short time?

Bayley: Thank you so much! I had auditioned for the show previously a few times and had a couple call backs for various roles over the last year. Then a little over a month ago casting had contacted my agents again letting them know that they needed someone to fill in for the role of Summer and that they wanted to book me! It was the first time I had ever been offered a direct booking so that in itself was crazy to me. Everyone was so kind to me and so welcoming throughout my week on set. I obviously was intimidated a bit before going into work the first day but that didn’t last long at all. The entire cast and crew were incredible towards me from start to finish. I feel so grateful that I was able to learn so much in such a short period of time from some of the most iconic daytime actors on television.

Y&R is the number one daytime drama, would you like to see yourself as a permanent member on the show and why?

Bayley: To be able to continue to learn and grow from that cast would be incredible. As of right now I have other things planned but who knows I definitely would not be opposed to that. It is really rare to find such a close knit cast that really behaves as a family on and off set and to be a part of something like that would be amazing.

Another opportunity may come for you to play Summer again considering Hunter King’s work on Life In Pieces, would you be open to returning? Or do you see yourself playing another role?

Bayley: I loved playing Summer. She’s so dynamic and challenging and those are the most fun characters to portray. I don’t know if any other character I could play on that show would be half as entertaining as she is!

What were the fan responses like since you been on the show?

Bayley: I really have been shown so much positivity from all of the fans of the show. I was so nervous that no one was going to like me and that everyone would be confused or angry that I was stepping in and honestly, I totally would have understood if they were! I had some big shoes to fill for sure. It was really important to me to try to find the balance between bringing my own take on a character to the table while also honoring what another actress has built over the years. That is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Thankfully people responded well to my  performance and ultimately really welcomed me into the Y&R family!

You have a new series in the pipeline called “All American” – can you tell us a little bit about that?

Bayley: It’s so funny because I really only had a small role in the pilot episode but I somehow made it into one of the trailers! I can’t say too much for now. But what I can tell you is that this show is truly filled with one of the most talented young casts I’ve worked with. I know how hard they have worked on this series and I am so excited to watch!
What other shows can fans watch you on? Do you have any other projects on the horizon?

Bayley: You can see me on Jane the Virgin, 2 Broke Girls, Modern Family, and in The Hatred. ALSO If you’re watching the Hallmark Channel around Christmas you’ll find me in the MOW “Christmas in Angel Falls”.

Outside of acting what keeps you busy?

Bayley: My weeks are always busy with auditions but on the weekends you can find me riding horses or out with friends goofing around somewhere in LA.
