It’s a huge day for fans of Beyond the Gates. We just got word that CBS has officially renewed the show for not one, but two more seasons! This means we’re guaranteed to see seasons 3 and 4, which is a massive win for the freshman soap. However, it wouldn’t be daytime TV without a little bit of a shakeup to go along with the celebration.

Right as the renewal news dropped, we also noticed some big changes in the casting department. According to the show’s latest closing credits, Alex Alegria is moving to recurring status. He’s been a staple on contract as Tomas Novarro since the show first hit our screens in February 2025.

Casting News Beyond the Gates

This move makes Alex the second actor to move to recurring since the series launched. As many know by now, Ben Gavin, who plays Derek Baldwin, was dropped to recurring earlier this year.

For those following the plot, Tomas is currently a key player at Bill Hamilton’s law firm and is wrapped up in a serious romance with Colby Nixon’s Kat Richardson. It’ll be interesting to see how this shift affects their screen time together.

Bear in mind, recurring doesn’t mean gone.

New Faces on Contract

On a brighter note, a few other favorites are getting a promotion. Lami, who plays Izaiah Hawthorne, has been bumped up to contract status. Joining him in a more permanent capacity is Jon Lindstrom. Jon has been recurring as Joey Armstrong since he first arrived, but he’s now officially been promoted to a full contract role.

Beyond the Gates has been such a breath of fresh air for CBS. It’s a groundbreaking look at the lives of the Dupree family in their posh Maryland gated community.

Focusing on a prestigious Black family and all the drama, secrets, and career moves that come with it, the show has clearly found its footing. With two more years of stories now confirmed, the residents of this D.C. suburb are just getting started.
