Beyond the Gates spoilers for August 18 tease that Hayley makes more trouble at the hospital as Bill tempts fate, Leslie is motivated by something Eva says, and Nicole’s status change gets around – plus Martin’s not thrilled with Smitty, and Shanice gets thrown a curveball.

Best friends share the latest while one husband feels let down by another, Eva may wish she hadn’t opened her mouth, and Shanice is asked an unusual favor. Meanwhile, Bill and Hayley keep Garland Memorial on high alert!

Here’s a Soap Opera News breakdown of what to expect on Tuesday’s episode.

Key Takeaways

  • Bill flirts with disaster.
  • Hayley and Ashley clash.
  • Eva’s words instigate Leslie.
  • Smitty disappoints Martin.

Dr. Love

With Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) still laid up in the hospital (again!), he’s somehow no closer to knowing exactly what keeps causing him to collapse. (The Fixer would be wise to take Joey’s advice and get that second opinion from a different facility; sorry, Madison!)

Yet he manages to do something while hospitalized that could cause him bigger problems than the one he’s already facing. Will Bill get that second opinion and find out he’s got poison in his system? Will he confront “Sammy” about his supposed affair with Hayley (Marquita Goings)? And will he test the limits and try Garland’s fruit cocktail Jell-O mold? Time will tell!

Ashley (Jen Jacob) hasn’t had much to do lately besides swoon over the plasma stealer-turned-bartender known as Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso), but at work she’s having to deal with Hayley a lot all of a sudden. Last week, our merry murderess all but blamed poor Ash for Bill’s heart doing the mamba, though we pretty much have Andre to thank for that. Now, the DMV’s answer to Florence Nightingale is on an intercept course with Hayley/Val/Whoever once again.

With odds on Hayley returning to stirring the pot, what is it she’ll be all up in Ashley’s face about? And will Ashley take a page out of Shanice’s (Ernestine Johnson) no-bull playbook and tongue-lash Hayley so badly she’ll need a hospital herself?

Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own

Relationships, amirite? Here it’s Smitty (Mike Manning) doing something that makes Martin (Brandon Claybon) all boo-boo face. What will the control-freak congressman be upset about this time? Certainly it will have something to do with his re-election campaign – he can’t be that bummed that Smitty won’t be playing in his charity basketball game!

Might Smitty accidentally blurt out a molehill that the accompanying press will make a mountain out of? Will Martin grumble about Smitty doing the crime podcast he was invited onto anyway, despite having given Smits his permission? Or is it a difference in guiding Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) through his breakup with Jessica (Camryn Jade) that has the Richardson-Smiths on opposite sides of the fence?

Then there’s Nicole (Daphnee Duplaix), who can barely get out of bed now that she’s gone exclusive with Kial (Greg Vaughan), and not because she’s ill. She seems to be in a shout-it-from-the-rooftops phase, first telling Dani (Karla Mosley) about her new relationship parameters before clucking to Anita about them.

Most likely this is why Nicole will be going to her bestie Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) – to dish about this Kial trial. And with Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) going to Ted (Keith D. Robinson) on the same day, it’s probably to cry about losing in the Nicole sweepstakes. Hey, Carlton, don’t feel bad – now you and Ted have both been dumped by Nicole. If you weren’t total bros before, you should be now!

Need A Favor

As Garland’s nurses’ supervisor, Shanice must well be used to patients, visitors, and even other staffers coming to her with left-field asks. But something asked of Nurse Johnson will leave her scratching her head. Will she do this favor or shut it down? And, of course, what good turn could possibly flap the unflappable Shanice? Anyone wanna lay odds it has something to do with Ted…Nicole and/or Leslie (Trisa Mann-Grant), specifically?

And oh, girl. From day one, Dana Leslie Thomas has basically been a hand grenade – you can’t say anything to her without her going off…on one of her self-serving missions. This time it’ll be Eva (Ambyr Michelle) who spurs “MAH-muhhh” into action somehow, via an unintentional verbal cue. What’s Leslie up to this time? Will she somehow take Nicole choosing Kial as a sign from the universe that Ted is her one and only?

Will Leslie actually do something nice for Noah (Nick Hagelin), whom she seems to have developed a soft spot for? Or could Leslie finally do the right thing and turn herself in for trying to off Laura (Destiny Love) – twice? Admit it…Leslie in jail at the same time as Hayley? If there’s a better definition for “must-see TV,” it’s hard to imagine what it would be!
