Although we are grieving and will miss him, Bill’s indelible legacy will live on in our hearts and the stories we tell, both on and off the screen.”
William Foster Hayes III born on June 5, 1925, was an accomplished American actor and recording artist. In the spring of 1955, his song “The Ballad of Davy Crockett” reached the top of the Billboard charts. Hayes started his career in the late 1940s as a musician and later shifted his focus to dramatic acting roles in the late 1960s. His exceptional acting skills led him to be cast in a role that gained him additional fame among younger audiences. In 1970, he originated the character of Doug Williams on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, which he continued to play until 2023.
Hayes was married to his co-star Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) from 1975. Hayes was the father of 5.
