It’s not the first time, and definitely won’t be the last, that a soap star has come to the defense of another co-star. Over the years, we’ve seen actors stand up for each other when online chatter gets a little out of hand, and this time it’s Scott Clifton, The Bold and the Beautiful’s very own Liam Spencer, stepping up to support his longtime colleague and former leading lady, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (aka Steffy Forrester Finnegan).

As every soap fan knows, the internet can be a wild place where rumors spread faster than a cliffhanger Friday episode. Recently, an account known as “The Spoiler Girl” on X (formerly Twitter) stirred the pot, claiming:

“Just so #Lope fans know — Bell wanted to put Steam back together, but JMW is against that ship. So congratulations, Hope wins Liam by default… until he cheats on her again!”

That post didn’t sit well with everyone. Another viewer chimed in, saying, “JMW is a drama queen if she thinks she should be able to determine her storyline. Show up and read your lines, please.”

Scott Clifton’s Response

Then came Scott Clifton, who wasn’t about to let that slide. Jumping in to set the record straight, Clifton responded:

“Jacqui is a consummate professional and a dream coworker. Two things are true at once: she has expressed the (very reasonable) personal/creative opinion that ‘Steam’ has run its course; yet if Mr. Bell wrote Liam and Steffy getting back together again, she would give it 110%.”

That’s how you defend your co-star with both class and clarity.

Of course, the rumor likely stems from recent storylines where Liam, before his fake brain tumor ordeal, was once again pining after his ex-wife Steffy — even stealing a kiss in Rome. But fast forward, and the man’s done a total 360. Now he’s proposing (again!) to his other ex-wife, Hope Logan (Annika Noelle), and she said yes.

As Clifton made clear, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s Steffy is happily married to Finn (Tanner Novlan) onscreen. And while she might think the Steam pairing (Steffy and Liam) has run its course, if the show ever decided to revisit it, she’d dive right back in and give it her all.

That’s the mark of a pro, and a testament to the strong working relationships behind The Bold and the Beautiful scene.
