Tanner Novlan does it again. The actor who plays John “Finn” Finnegan on The Bold and the Beautiful is back in another Liberty Mutual commercial, and it’s every bit as funny and quirky as fans have come to expect.
In the new ad, Tanner plays a man who meets his date, Marsha, on a scenic pier with the Statue of Liberty in the background. He first thanks her for meeting him, then admits that he’s not usually into “inter web” dating. He also explains that he barely uses his “phone puter” for anything other than bundling insurance with good old “Liberty Biberty.”
That’s when the moment really clicks. Marsha reveals she speaks the same very specific, very odd language. The second she says “biberty,” the two lock in and realize they might have just found their soulmate. Before you know it, they’re swinging around in circles as a heart fills the screen.
To celebrate their perfectly weird connection, the pair realizes that they are hungry and head off together in search of something to eat. The spot is titled Truth Tellers: Dating App, and it leans all the way into the offbeat humor Liberty Mutual is known for.

In Friday’s episode of the CBS daytime drama, he tries to avoid Sheila at Il Giardino. But as we all know, that’s easier said than done.
