If you watch The Bold and the Beautiful, you know Tanner Novlan as the serious and heroic Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan. But lately, Tanner has been showing off a completely different side of his personality. He is back in his famous role as the “Bad Actor” for Liberty Mutual, and these three new spots are absolutely hilarious.
It is honestly impressive how well he plays someone who just cannot get a line right. In these ads, he is supposed to say “bundle and save,” but his character finds every possible way to mess it up.
Bubbles, Bees, and a Literal Crumble
In one version, he starts yelling about “bubbling” his insurance while actual bubbles float around his head. He even gets annoyed when they get in his hair, which is a total “diva actor” move.
Then things get even more chaotic. He shows up in a full beekeeping suit to talk about “bumbling” and saving. A few seconds later, he is holding a box of crackers and dropping them everywhere because he thinks the line is “crumble and save.” The look on his face when the director asks, “Who gave him crackers?” is priceless.
Perhaps the funniest of the three spots involves a bunch of adorable puppies. Instead of sticking to the script, Tanner’s character decides that “cuddle and wave” is a much better slogan. He is standing there covered in puppies, and he even refuses to put them down when the director asks.
He argues that the real line doesn’t make any sense because he has puppies in his arms. It is such a silly, lighthearted moment that stands in huge contrast to the high-stakes drama he usually deals with on The Bold and the Beautiful.
