The sands in the hourglass have run out for one hunk at Days of our Lives—Brandon Barash, who plays Stefan DiMera. Rumors have been swirling for a while now that the actor filmed his last scenes in March this year. Now the actor confirmed to Soaps.com that he is indeed leaving the show with his last airdate set for October 28, 2024.

He told the website, “I knew exactly what was happening as soon as I was called up to [the boss’] office, and she said, ‘Look, this is not my doing. I don’t like it. And this is no reflection on you or your abilities. You’re very talented. We know your work ethic is very high, but it’s just where we’re deciding to take the character.” Barash added that he “was in the middle of a contract, and it was the writers’ decision.”

In regards to a future return to Days of our Lives, Barash says, “I don’t know. This is the second time this has happened to me on Days of our Lives. And, you know, it would have to be very, very right. The terms would have to be right. The story would have to be right. The contract would have to be right. And I would have to be able to trust them. And I’ve lost that. I’ve lost the ability to trust that team, quite frankly.”

Brandon Barash played the role of Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital from 2007-2013 and 2014-2015 before coming over to Days to play Stefan in 2019, 2020, and 2022 to present. He also played Jake DiMera on the Peacock soap opera from 2020 to 2022. (Photo: Getty/Peacock)
