Bridget Dobson, famous for her work on several soap operas has died at the age of 85.

Pierpaolo Dongiovanni shared on his Facebook page that Jerome Dobson informed him about his wife Bridget’s passing three days ago. Jerry and Bridget had a beautiful life together, and they were co-creators and co-writers of the popular soap opera “Santa Barbara.” Bridget was a source of inspiration, love, and hope for Pierpaolo, and he is grateful for her friendship even when he was sick a couple of years ago.

Together, as Dobson Productions, Jerome and Bridget were known for their exceptional work as the head writing team for several soap operas. Bridget Dobson’s parents, Frank and Doris Hursley, were famous screenwriters and TV soap opera creators, best known for their work on “General Hospital.” Bridget and Jerome got married in 1961 and started writing scripts for General Hospital in the early 1970s.

In 1975, the Dobsons were hired as head writers for the long-running CBS Daytime soap opera “Guiding Light.” They created several iconic characters and storylines. The Dobsons also worked on another Procter and Gamble soap opera, “As the World Turns,” where they created the notorious character of James Stenbeck and paired the characters of Tom and Margo, among other stories.

Though she is no longer with us, her presence will always be felt. Rest well Bridget Dobson.
