It’s one thing to get lost in the soap opera world, but it’s another thing entirely to make real-life friendships out of it. Just ask Brytni Sarpy, known for playing Elena Dawson on The Young and the Restless.

While she and her real-life friend Sal Stowers haven’t crossed paths on-screen, they share a deep connection through the soap genre—and recently, a life-changing road trip that Brytni shared on Instagram.

The Life-Changing Journey

Posting a reel from their journey, Sarpy reflected, “Two thousand one hundred and some odd miles later, we arrived.”

She explained, “It was a goodbye tour of sorts, and a metaphoric hello to paving new roads while honoring the old programming, the remnants of pain, and the buffing of those sharp, soul-centered growth edges whose punctures no longer call for blood or outward scarring.”

Brytni continued, “Somehow, though not surprisingly, a four-day road trip to help one of my best friends step into her new beginning became a proper farewell to the years that most recently shaped us both. The parallels of our journeys were unmistakable. Two women navigating tough seasons in a business that didn’t always return the affection we poured into it.

Two inner children asking to be felt, heard, and healed. Two hearts learning how to metabolize the disappointments and heartbreaks that accumulated over the last decade. We let it all move through us on this trip. It felt as if an invisible urn sat between us, and as the miles passed beneath the tires, we welcomed the chance to toss the ashes out the window and breathe in the fresh air that only change can bring.

The journey was full and soul-filled, and the bond is solid and foundational. If you ever get the chance to accompany someone you love across states, I encourage you to take it. Somewhere on that highway, you remember what life is actually about: building community, practicing love, and seeing yourself reflected in your best friend’s eyes. Thanks for the memories, I-40.”

Sal Stowers Thanks Brytni Sarpy

Fans also got a glimpse of Sal Stowers’ reaction in the comment section. She wrote, “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. Thank you for being on this wild journey with me.

Stowers continued, “Thank you for spending three days in a car with me. Thank you for helping me find my strength, for being the first person to stand with me while I turned the key to a new chapter. Thank you for your love, your heart, your sistership, for being my ride or die! Truly lucky to call you my bestie.”

Apparently, Sal recently moved from Los Angeles to Tennessee. In her Instagram stories, she shared, “Two besties take on I-40, LA to TN. Thank you, Brytni, for being by my side through the toughest year of my life and road tripping with me to my new home. I love you to the depths of my being.”

For fans who know them from daytime, Brytni is also known for playing Valerie on General Hospital, while Sal currently plays Penelope on Tyler Perry’s Sistas and Lani Price-Grant on Days of Our Lives. Fans may also remember her from her role as Cassandra on All My Children.

This is proof that while soaps can give us drama on-screen, it’s the friendships forged behind the scenes that can be truly transformative.
