Hallmark Channel and General Hospital star Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) is celebrating his 54th birthday today.
He was born Cameron Arthur Mathison on August 25, 1969, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He is the second of two sons of parents Bill and Loretta. Mathson attended Thornlea Secondary School in Thornhill, Ontario, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Mathison began working as a model and started acting in commercials in Canada, U.S.A., and Europe after graduating from McGill. He kickstarted his acting career in Toronto.
He became quite famous when he began playing the role of Ryan Lavery on All My Children. He earned Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Oustanding Supporting Actor in a drama series in 2002 and 2005. In 2000, he was named by People magazine as one of “America’s 100 Most Eligible Bachelors”.
Mathison was a contestant in season five of Dancing with the Stars and placed 5th. He worked on Good Morning America and was a host for many award events. He also hosts Entertainment Tonight and Hallmark’s Home and Family with Debbie Matenopoulos.
Mathison has been married to Vanessa Marie Arevalo Mathison since July 2002. The couple shares two children. In 2020, he revealed his battle with renal cancer and is now a cancer survivor.
