Our first Throwback for 2019 is Jasper “Jax” Jacks of General Hospital. Before we go further please allow me to take a second and fawn over Ingo Rademacher and those eyes, steel blue eyes. I could just park and sit right there all day. But we will move on. I mean Jax does have the same eyes so we are good lol.
Jax is sexy, smart, suave and a corporate raider. Jax has been on canvas since 1996 and has led a pretty full soap life. There is one thing that remains consistent in Mr. Jasper’s soap history, the ladies, ladies and more ladies. It could be said that Jax has been unlucky in love but it’s not for the sake of him trying. He has tried many many times. The ladies might not stay but they do come. And why wouldn’t they? Jax’s sex appeal……he has it. We are calling it the Power of Jax.
- Brenda Barrett only wanted Jax around to help make Sonny jealous. But it wasn’t too long before the Power of Jax had her change that tune and wanting him for herself.
- Carly and AJ’s engagement party and a no-show at the Nurse’s Ball opened the door for the Power of Jax to hook Chloe Morgan.
- When Chloe fell seriously ill and needed medication, Helena Cassadine bought an entire drug company who manufactured the drug, just to try and blackmail Jax into sleeping with her. Chile, now that’s some power right there. The Power of Jax.
- Skye Quartermaine drove Edward Quartermine to a stroke when he threatened to expose Skye to Jax and tell him that Skye was double-crossing Jax and working with him. And Skye let Brenda think she was dying to keep those steel blue eyes fixated on her.
- The Power of Jax mixed with The Dead Man’s Hand was the magnet that drew Jax and Sam McCall into each other’s arms.
- This is our favorite. Jax who must have known about the Power of Jax himself bet/promised Courtney Matthews that if she could resist the temptation to sleep with him for three months he would donate $10,000,00 to her foundation for underprivileged kids. Courtney fought the good fight and came close real close to giving into temptation and depriving those poor kids of all that money. But we thank gawd for a snake (there is a Bible parable in there somewhere) which gave Courtney a way of escape. She collected herself and was then able to hold fast until the 90 days were up. The kids got the $10,000,000 and Courtney got Jax. Win. Win. Win.
Jax’s main loves have been Brenda and Carly. We aren’t going to pick a favorite or give an opinion on whom he loved best. But y’all feel free….we try to stay as far away from shipping wars as we can! Lol. But unfortunately our boy Jax always appeared to come in second place to Sonny with Brenda and Carly.
Jax hasn’t only been good with the ladies. The corporate raider also has a golden touch with business and money. He has done more than his share of wheeling and dealing. He was able to buy Chloe’s company back for her when she lost it. He worked with Tracy to take over ELQ. But it was later with the help of Skye and A.J. that he secured controlling interest of ELQ. He was the financial backer of Courtney’s Foundation to help underprivileged children. He was also a financial backer of Crimson at one time. And it was Jax’s business venture to replace the Port Charles Hotel after it burned down, that brought us the Metro Court which still stands today. He named it after Courtney. Smooth operator.
All these business ventures have something in common. They all involve women who Jax had history with (some more than others). It always comes back to the ladies.
The other facet of Jax’s soap life has been predictable. He has been kidnapped, shot, raped, assaulted, ingested toxins. Jax has committed the usual soap sins. He was involved in the cover-up of Claudia’s murder. He tried to set up Sonny so he could win his custody case and protect Joss so she wouldn’t suffer the same fate as Michael. He changed a paternity test involving him, Courtney and Nicholas, twice. And he lied to Courtney on her death bed that he would tell Nicholas that he and not Jax was the father of her baby. He didn’t.
Jax had a soft spot for his mad man brother Jerry Jacks. On more than one occasion Jax covered for and helped Jerry. It was only after Jerry poisoned the entire town that Jax finally had to face that his brother was beyond saving.
Jax continues to visit Port Charles from time to time. He was last on screen involved in the, Where did Joss’ kidney come from storyline.
We can’t help but wonder with Ingo off contract at The Bold and the Beautiful, could we see Jax again in Port Charles soon? Permanently?
Oh please please Ingo and Jax come home!
