Hey – happy Thursday fans! Thanks for checking into our “Characters of the Past” column. Today, in focus we are looking  at Cassandra Hall Rawlins who was played by Nina Aversan on ‘The Young and the Restless’ from 1988 – 1991.

Viewers may remember that in the beginning much of the character’s story remained a mystery for a while. Paul (Doug Williams) had hired a woman who went by the name of Cassie as an interior designer. With her job, Cassie was able to show Paul the depth of her talent and while working closely with him, they became romantically involved until the truth came out that her real name was Cassandra Hall Rawlins and married to George Rawlins, a wealthy business owner.

While Cassandra was in Genoa City, there was always much drama. She was also married to Adrian Hunter and Brad Carlton (ex-Don Diamont).  In one scene, Adrian manipulated Cassandra to sign over the rights to her estate and then devised a plan to kill her trying to make it appear as a suicide. Adrian drugged her, tied her to a chair and rigged a gun with melting ice to fire at her at a particular time. He then exited the area so that he could create his alibi elsewhere. The gun fired and Cassandra was killed or so we thought. Paul and Victor (Eric Braeden) became aware of Adrian’s plan and saved Cassandra just tin time and continued to make the Adrian’s plot look as if it was successful.

Later, Cassandra set her sights on Brad and they became romantically involved and later married. In the latter scenes, Brad was able to get out of his marriage with the help of Traci (Beth Maitland). Brad and Cassandra agreed to part ways and after the divorce hearing, she contacted Paul to let him know that he was the man she really loved. Cassandra rushed off to see him, but before they could reconnect she was struck down by a truck and died. She was last seen on April 5, 1991.

It has been years since the portrayer, Nina Aversan has been in acting but would fans want to see her reprise her role on ‘Y&R’? Should they bring her character back from the dead? What do you think?
