Christel Khalil recently stepped away from The Young and the Restless for maternity leave while expecting her third child. Now, it looks like that chapter has officially closed. According to a new Instagram story shared on the actress’s official account, Khalil has given birth and is already “getting ready for Lily’s return.”
As longtime viewers know, soaps film weeks and sometimes months in advance. Khalil likely began her maternity leave sometime in 2025, but Lily’s on-screen exit did not air until January, when she revealed she was leaving town to visit Mattie.
Since then, a lot has changed in Genoa City, and it is safe to say Lily will be walking back into a storm when she returns.
A Quick Look at Khalil’s Personal Journey
Back in the summer of 2018, Khalil confirmed she was in a relationship with Canadian businessman Sam Restagno, who works in private equity. The two met in 2016 at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California.
In June 2023, Khalil announced she was expecting her second child, her first with Restagno. Then, in October 2025, she revealed she was pregnant again, welcoming the couple’s second child together and her third overall.
Khalil also shares a son, Michael, from a previous marriage. His godfather is Bryton James, who plays Devon on Y&R, and his godmother is actress Fadhia Marcelin.
Lily Returns to a Power Struggle in Genoa City
Since Lily left town, chaos has taken over. Cane and Phyllis teamed up in a bold move to take control of Victor Newman’s companies, including Newman Enterprises and its subsidiaries.
Along the way, the two have also started exploring a romantic connection, something Lily has never been comfortable with.
Now, Victor has Cane backed into a corner. He believes tricking Cane that he has taken Lily and the kids and is using that leverage to bargain for his companies back. Whether Cane gives in or continues to push back remains to be seen.
