This week’s (May 8 – 12, 2023) Couple of the Week is General Hospital’s Michael Quartermaine Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen ), or Millow as their fans call them.
Millow have gone through some things before finally ending up together, happy and in love. They were thrilled to find out that they were expecting their second child and then Willow found out she also had cancer but kept it to herself so she could delay treatment and not risk harming the baby. Well, the baby made it safe and sound but things haven’t been looking great for Willow. She nearly died while having their daughter but Michael’s love brought her back in the sweetest soapiest way.
Willow didn’t want to risk dying before they actually got to get married so she nixed the plans for the big fancy wedding after she was better and they had a smaller, intimate ceremony with only a few family and friends in attendance to watch them make their vows to each other. The wedding itself went off without a hitch and they were finally married… again… but for the real right reason this time and not because they were trying to keep custody of his son and out of the hands of her psycho twin sister.
The night of their wedding Willow collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where the doctors told Michael that she was running out of time to get a bone marrow transplant. Michael had to make the choice to bring her home to die in peace or to keep her in the hospital to try and fight for a chance to live and of course, he chose the latter. The next obstacle was convincing Willow which he was able to do.
Her donor was safely returned to Port Charles and Willow was being put into isolation to prepare for her transplant but she had one final request to make of her husband, just in case. She asked him to put an end to the war he was in with his father and to make peace for the sake of his siblings and their own children. She didn’t want the family torn apart when they most needed to come together. This was a hard request for Michael to fulfill but eventually, he promised and made good, extending an olive branch to his father.
Michael’s love for Willow is stronger than his hatred of his father and for her, there is nothing he won’t do. This pairing has a long way to go before they can truly exhale and enjoy married life with their son and brand new baby girl but they are off to a great start and since their love overcame even death, we’re pretty confident that a happily ever after is on the horizon for them… at least as much of one as any soap couple gets anyway!
