Courtney Hope has always been amazing as Sally Spectra—even dating back to her days playing the role on The Bold and the Beautiful. This week, however, Hope delivered the performance of a lifetime on The Young and the Restless as Sally gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Ruby Spectra Abbott. Hope secured herself Soap Opera News Performer of the Week honors for October 19–23, 2026.

Let’s discuss everything that went down in Genoa City.

Courtney Hope Shines as Sally Goes Into Labor

Sally was in a suite upstairs at the GCAC just moments after being pronounced husband and wife with Billy Abbott. While there, she was supposed to be working on a special surprise for her new hubby. However, her ex, Adam Newman, showed up to congratulate her on the nuptials. He specifically wanted to do that while she was away from the crowd. Little did he know that his unexpected visit would turn out to be a lifesaver.

While Adam was there, Sally suddenly began to experience excruciating pains. Her water broke, and she went into labor right on the spot. Assuming he had enough time, Adam initially opted to run out and find Billy. But Sally warned him that her contractions were coming too fast and he could not go anywhere.

Adam desperately tried to reach Billy via cell phone, but to no avail. He even tried calling the telephone in the room, only to discover the line was disconnected. Realizing he had no other choice, Adam understood he had to help Sally deliver her baby right there—and he managed to pull it off successfully.

Adam Newman Steps Up When Sally Needs Him Most

Of course, the moment brought back painful memories of their daughter, Ava, whom they tragically lost. Even so, Mark Grossman did not fail to deliver an unforgettable performance either. As Adam, he assured Sally that this was not the first time he had ever delivered a baby, and he coached her calmly through the entire process.

Amidst the intense pain, a healthy baby was born without any complications. Sally had assumed she was having a boy, but lo and behold, Adam presented her with a bundle of pink.

“You have a beautiful, perfect little baby girl,” Adam tells her before placing the newborn in her arms.

“Oh, my God,” Sally says through tears. “Hi, baby… I am your mom.” She looks down at the infant and promises, “Oh, you’re going to have the best life… I’m going to keep you safe.”

Moments later, Billy finally arrived, learned that she had given birth, and shared a sweet, intimate family moment with them.

Why Courtney Hope Deserves Performer of the Week

These scenes were absolute perfection. They served as a powerful reminder of just how talented Courtney Hope truly is.

No wonder she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress back in 2024, and she is clearly locking in her next Emmy reel right now. Her performance was raw, moving, and utterly convincing. A job exceptionally well done—and a performance so outstanding we simply cannot stop talking about it!

Do you think Courtney Hope deserves another Daytime Emmy nomination for her performance as Sally? And which moment hit you hardest: Adam delivering the baby, Sally meeting Ruby for the first time, or Billy joining the moment? Share your thoughts in the comments!
