In what may not be the most shocking casting news this week, Daniel Goddard’s run on General Hospital has officially come to an end.
In the latest episode of the ABC daytime drama, Sidwell (Carlo Rota) deemed Professor Henry Dalton a liability. He didn’t hesitate. Right there at Wyndemere, in front of Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), Sidwell pulled a gun and shot Dalton in the chest.
This week marks Goddard’s exit from the show. Speculation had been swirling about whether the character would be killed off, especially after the latest GH promo teased that Laura (Genie Francis) would make a shocking discovery.

Now, Soap Opera Digest reports that a representative for the show has confirmed the news: “We can confirm that Daniel Goddard has exited General Hospital as Professor Henry Dalton.”
Executive Producer Frank Valentini added, “I really enjoyed working with Daniel. It was a short-term role from the start…”
This is Goddard’s second stint on daytime TV. He first became a household name as Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless. As he found a new home on GH, it was he loved working there.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared that he was headed back to Australia for his father’s funeral, writing, “I fly back to Australia tonight for my dad’s funeral… Thank you for your condolences and compassion since the news of his passing. I’m so grateful for your love and support. You have no idea how much it means to me.”
