Anne Whitfield, known for her role as Barbara Harris on Days of our Lives, dies at the age of 85.

The esteemed American actress Anne Whitfield left a lasting legacy in old-time radio, television, stage, and film. Born in Oxford, Mississippi on August 27, 1938, she was the daughter of Richard N. Whitfield Jr. and Frances Turner Whitfield.

Anne Whitfield attended Rosewood Avenue Public School after her family’s relocation to California. Remarkably, at 17, she juggled her studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, with her work on radio programs. Throughout her youth, she portrayed various child roles in both comedic and dramatic series originating in Hollywood.

Anne Whitfield made her radio debut in September 1945 and swiftly became a member of the esteemed cast of One Man’s Family at the age of 7. She is probably best known for her role in White Christmas.

She played the role of Barbara Harris on Days of our Lives, appearing in at least 3 episodes spanning from 1965 – 1966. She passed away unexpectedly after an incident while walking in her neighborhood in Washington on February 15, 2024. Her contribution to the entertainment industry will always be remembered.
