The revolving door at Days of Our Lives is spinning faster than ever. We’ve already seen a long list of casting changes lately, including the news that Elia Cantu (Jada Hunter) and Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) were moved to recurring status. Now, the show’s most recent closing credits have revealed that two more familiar faces—Rachel Boyd and Peter Porte—have also been taken off-contract.

Sophia Choi and Dimitri von Leuschner Shift to Recurring

Rachel Boyd, who stepped into the role of Sophia Choi on February 12, 2025, took over from Madelyn Kientz. Currently, Sophia is in the middle of a messy storyline, doing Kristen DiMera’s dirty work and targeting Johnny. While being off-contract doesn’t always mean a character is leaving Salem for good, it definitely signals a shift in how often we’ll see her on screen.

Stay tuned for updates regarding Boyd’s status with the show.

Peter Porte is also moving off-contract. Peter first introduced us to Dimitri von Leuschner back in the 2021 limited series Beyond Salem before moving to the main show in 2023.

After a brief stint in prison, Dimitri made a return to the canvas in 2025. Peter is also known for his time as Ricky Williams on The Young and the Restless, so fans are always happy to see him pop up—even if it’s on a more limited basis now.

A Season of Exits in Salem

These updates are just the tip of the iceberg for the Peacock soap opera. If you haven’t been keeping track, the next few months are going to look very different in Salem. Several heavy hitters are already confirmed to be exiting the show, including Ashley Puzemis, Leo Howard, Raven Bowens, and Carson Boatman.

fine the cast is too big

    1. I won’t miss either of them. But I hate that Carson was fired. The other 3 isn’t a huge deal. But if Chanel died in childbirth, they could have left Johnny to raise the kids and run Dimera. Then he could be a big boy and make his own decisions. Bringing Lani and Eli back is a waste of money that could have been saved keeping Johnny. And bringing back Joy— I’ll give that a little more time. Only because I want to see Alex happy for a change and get his mind off of his psycho wife. I really hate seeing Rafe being cut back but at least he wasn’t fired. Basically, just stop bringing new characters in. An occasional one now and then is ok but stop gutting the cast we have.

  2. Neither character will be missed, but sorry for the actors. I hadn’t heard about Galen & Elia, their characters will be missed.

  3. This show sucks lately. Same plots year after year. New stupid writers can’t invent new story lines. No surprises because they aren’t inventive enough. You always know what is gonna happen before it does. They claim shocker but nothing is a shocker. They have Marlena all over the place so she needs a psychiatrist. Theo is a horrible actor along with the new Rachael and Ari. Come on we’re paying for this nonsense.

  4. I like seeing

  5. I like seeing more of the long term characters. I would like to see Johnny and Channel have a happy ending before they leave.

  6. Disappointed about Dimitri. I like him, he’s amusing. Sophia has run her course tho.

    1. I love Dimitri’s character, I laugh so hard on all his antics, You need alittle bit of fun on the soaps

  7. We are def going to miss Sophia and that actress is sooo good.

  8. I am super sad about Johnny and Chanel too. I think that’s a good idea that if Chanel had died in childbirth, Johnny could take care of the kids and then he could lead the Demers into a much stronger and better storyline.
