Days of Our Lives is pulling another one from its back from the dead playbook. Nikki Crawford is set to make her debut as the new Lexie Carver on Friday, March 6.
The role was most prominently played by acting retiree Renee Jones. TV Insider first reported the news, noting that Lexie, who appeared on the canvas from 1993 to 2012, was presumed dead but has secretly been kept alive by Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) in a mysterious hospital lab.
In the episode airing Friday, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) shocks Paulina (Jackee Harry) when he finally unveils who is inside the pod. And yes, it is Lexie.

Nikki Crawford Takes Over the Role
Lexie’s return is bound to stir things up. She is the love of Abe’s (James Reynolds) life, and her comeback comes at a complicated time, especially now that Abe is married to Paulina.
Crawford told TV Insider that fans should expect major ripple effects in Salem.
“Her return is going to shake things up, especially with Abe now being married to Paulina,” she previewed. “But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves. Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So, she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.”
Nikki Crawford is an American stage, film, and television actress. She is best known for her Tony-nominated portrayal of Tedra in James Ijames’ 2022 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Fat Ham, first at the Public Theater and later at the American Airlines Theatre.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Crawford earned her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s drama program. Shortly after graduating, she landed a leading role in the European tour of Bubbling Brown Sugar, which helped launch her career.
Her television credits include Cruel Intentions, 9-1-1, Criminal Minds, Pretty Little Liars, Tracker, Elsbeth, and more.
