On July 6th, 2021 Raven Bowens assumed the role of Chanel Dupree after Precious Way vacated the role on Days of Our Lives.
Being a recast is never easy, but Bowens makes it seem effortless. Even though Way hadn’t been on the show that long, fans immediately had taken a liking to Chanel and so they were wary at the thought of a recast. Bowens eliminated any fears or doubts fans had when she assumed the role of Chanel as she hit the ground running and made the character her own.
Bowens’ first storyline was when Chanel had to break the news to Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) that Chanel’s mother, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) lied about her plans for Price Town and that their bakery, Sweet Bits wasn’t going to happen. Allie consoled her and they watched the 4th of July fireworks on television. They later shared a kiss.
Chanel is at the center of a love triangle between twins Allie Horton and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). Bowens has such amazing chemistry with them that there are strong fan bases of both pairings and it isn’t obvious to the viewers as to who Chanel will choose to be with.
Bowens also has great chemistry with other scene partners such as Harry, James Reynolds (Abe Carver), and Sal Stowers (Lani Price). Chanel is a great addition to the Price-Carver family and Bowens radiates in all of her scenes.
