Days Recap Today

Harris approaches Kate and Roman as they are finishing up lunch in the Town Square. He asks Kate if he can have a few minutes alone with her to talk about Lucas. However, Roman insists that Harris speak in front of him. Kate is worried that something has happened to Lucas. Harris then explains that Lucas is okay, but they received a tip that whoever is trafficking drugs in Salem is in Statesville. Kate is confused as to why Lucas would be involved in drugs, but Harris assures her that he has been a model prisoner and has nothing to do with it. Harris hopes to find a solution to this drug issue, and he thinks Lucas can help. He wants him to help them nail the person trafficking drugs from inside Statesville.

Kate is worried about her son’s safety and refuses to put him in danger. Harris understands her concerns but explains that if they don’t address the drug problem, more lives could be lost. Kate insists on protecting her son and steps away to take a call. Harris takes this opportunity to tell Roman that he may be able to convince Kate by offering a reward – getting Lucas out of prison. Upon her return, Harris presents his proposal, and Kate agrees to consider it.

After Harris leaves, Kate asks Roman about the risks involved in this plan. Roman replies that it depends on how smoothly it goes, but he has complete confidence in Lucas. Kate notes that if Lucas gets caught, he could die. However, Roman assures her that it’s unlikely as Lucas is clever enough to avoid getting caught. Roman emphasizes that the most likely outcome is that her son will return home to his kids and grandkids. Kate calls Harris to inform him that she still has reservations, but she will take him to Statesville to see Lucas.

Theresa meets with Alex at the station and informs Rafe that Tate was attacked in prison despite being placed in isolation. Rafe is shocked and assumes that one of the guards must have made a mistake. Brady blames EJ for it, stating that charging Tate as an adult was a mistake. Rafe decides to go down to the prison. Meanwhile, Theresa instructs Alex to call Justin, and Justin arrives at the same time with some news. He suggests they discuss it in the interrogation room, where he informs them that the appeal was denied. Justin explains that Tate’s guilty plea and expulsion from school do not help his case. Alex interrupts, saying that blaming EJ is a mistake because it is Justin’s fault. Rafe returns and informs them that Tate has been moved to a newer cell with security cameras, and he will not be in danger anymore.

After Rafe leaves, Alex comments that Rafe is an example of someone who gets the job done. Justin demands that Alex stop making insinuations. Alex responds that if money worked for EJ, they can do the same, and they just need a lawyer who can get the job done. From the beginning, Alex has made it clear that he doesn’t believe Justin is a ruthless enough lawyer to defend Tate. Justin says he doesn’t think he has to explain himself to Alex, especially since he is not even Tate’s parent. Justin defends himself by saying he did everything he could to help Tate’s case and was as ruthless as possible. Alex tells him that, obviously, everything he did was not enough. Justin decides to submit a motion to be removed from the case, and Alex agrees that it’s for the best. Brady tries to stop Justin, but he says he will not work on this case while being berated by his son. After Justin leaves, Brady asks Alex what he was thinking. Alex says he will ask his lawyer friend, Rodney, to take the case.

Justin returns to Rafe and Brady to inform them that the task is completed. Justin wishes to share the news with Alex and Theresa, however, Rafe stops him as Brady reveals that he wants Belle or Carrie to handle the situation. Justin points out that Alex insulted him and convinced Theresa that he is incompetent. He asks Brady if he really wants to put those ladies in Alex’s line of fire. Brady agrees that Justin is the best candidate for the job. He also says that Alex needs to stay out of it as Tate is not his son and Brady will call the shots. Brady confronts Alex, who tells him that his lawyer friend informed him that he cannot do anything more than Justin did. Brady insists that he wants Justin back on the case; Justin agrees to rescind his motion but tells Alex that he will not be reprimanded by him. Theresa asks Alex for some time alone with Brady, insisting that they are Tate’s parents and they will figure out what to do from here on. Brady tells her that she was harsh on Alex, but she says she can’t care about whose feelings she hurt because all she cares about is what is happening to their son.
