Eric is offering prayers for Holly at the hospital, while Nicole is at home packing her daughter’s belongings. As Eric concludes the prayer, Maggie arrives and reflects on the painful irony of dedicating most of her adult life to maintaining sobriety, only to witness drugs and alcohol claim her daughter Summer, and now place her granddaughter in a coma. Eric acknowledges the unforgivable choice he made in causing the death of her son by getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. Maggie shares that through the grace of God, she found it in her heart to forgive him. She reminds him that he was Holly’s father for a longer duration than anyone else, emphasizing the significance of his presence in this difficult time.
While gazing at a teddy bear, EJ approaches Nicole and informs her that the car will soon arrive to transport them to the hospital. Nicole reflects on how Holly appeared on New Year’s Eve, expressing her sentiment about her 17-year-old daughter, who continues to sleep with the teddy bear. EJ proposes accompanying Nicole to Italy, to which she responds by highlighting the potential duration of her absence and the significance of EJ’s work in Salem. EJ reassures Nicole of his intention to visit whenever possible.

Nicole and EJ arrive at the hospital. EJ explains that the jet will arrive soon, and Nicole and Holly will be in Rome by nightfall. After bidding her farewell, Maggie takes her leave. Subsequently, Nicole speaks affectionately of her daughter while Eric expresses his confidence in the medical professionals in Italy being able to assist Holly. Nicole asserts her unwavering commitment to her daughter, emphasizing that she will never give up on her. She advises Eric to savor every moment with his son. As the helicopter lands, EJ requests a private moment with Holly and Eric bids Nicole a safe journey as he departs. EJ reassures Nicole of his profound love for them both as he bids Holly farewell and pledges to attain justice in her name.
Later, upon realizing that this is goodbye for now, EJ bids farewell to Nicole with a kiss, just as Eric approaches and catches sight of them. EJ expresses his sentiments, emphasizing how much he will miss her every day, while Nicole acknowledges that she will also miss him.

Brady and Alex take Theresa home. Upon arrival, she expresses her desire to attend a party and simply partake in dancing. Despite their help to assist her, Theresa insists that she does not require any help and conveys a sense of contentment for the first time. She laments about her son being unjustly punished for a crime he did not commit, deeming it unfair. Furthermore, she criticizes Eric for his sanctimonious visit, suggesting that he could have instead contacted Nicole for assistance. She then lashes out at Alex and Brady as she carelessly drops her grandmother’s rosary on the ground.
Alex proposes to Brady that they get her something stronger to calm her down, but Brady opposes the idea, believing it to be the least suitable option at the moment. With a sense of helplessness, Alex expresses his reluctance to just stand by, and Brady suggests he leaves. Alex questions the suggestion, reminding Brady that it is his apartment, to which Brady apologizes and proposes Alex get something for Theresa to eat.

Alex agrees to procure donuts and coffee for her. As Theresa gradually recognizes her actions, she expresses deep remorse for letting everyone down, particularly for succumbing to substance use after maintaining sobriety for an extended period. She expresses a belief that she is undeserving of love, to which Brady reassures her by acknowledging the personal progress she has made. Theresa counters by emphasizing her struggles with her attempts to change and admitting to committing deeply regrettable actions.
Alex encounters Maggie in the Square and politely requests a conversation. However, Maggie is reluctant, revealing that she has just bid farewell to her granddaughter. Undeterred, Alex proceeds to share significant news concerning Theresa. He discloses Theresa’s substance abuse. He acknowledges the potential impact of his presence on Theresa’s state of mind and ponders what his approach should be when it is just him and Theresa. In response, Maggie advises Alex to offer unwavering support to Theresa and to encourage her to attend her meetings.
Meanwhile, Brady comforts Theresa and they share a kiss just as Alex returns to witness it.

Steve encounters Konstantin, who mentions that he is going to have a cup of coffee and extends an invitation to Steve. Konstantin inquires whether Steve would prefer to escort him back to his home in Aria.
Konstantin presses Steve on the subject of Aria, curious as to why Steve is being evasive about the topic. Steve attempts to leave. However, Konstantin detains him and brings up The Pawn, capturing Steve’s attention. It is evident that the mere mention of The Pawn has a profound effect on Steve. Although Steve insists that the only pawn he is familiar with is the chess piece, Konstantin recounts a harrowing tale involving The Pawn in a life-altering match with Victor. Konstantin is convinced that Steve holds vital information about The Pawn’s identity and insists on getting answers. As tensions escalate, Steve attempts to walk away, but Konstantin continues to demand answers angrily. Steve grabs him just as Maggie arrives and asks what is going on.
Lucas Is Badly Beaten!
When Harris arrives, he is met with accusations from Kate, who blames him for the situation and claims that he only sought to manipulate Lucas without any regard for her son. Harris apologizes, explaining that the prison warden assured him of Lucas’s safety. As they argue, Lucas wakens and implores them to stop arguing. He then discloses that his attack was a result of asking the wrong people too many questions. Harris reveals their suspicion of a corrupt police officer within the Salem PD. Kate then tells Harris that she holds him accountable for involving her son and demands his assistance in rectifying the situation. After contacting the state’s attorney, Harris returns with disheartening news: Lucas’s release hinged on providing court-worthy evidence, but that did not happen.
Harris promises to do what he can, but despite his assurances, Kate remains skeptical. Harris is informed that someone is in the visitor’s room wanting to speak with him. When he gets there, Clyde is there wanting to discuss recent events in Salem, including Lucas Horton’s ordeal.
