Days of Our Lives Recap for Tuesday, January 2, 2024:
What happened today on Days of Our Lives: EJ is determined to make Tate pay for Holly’s overdose. Ava and Stefan are challenged by Clyde’s order. Tripp demands to know whether Ava is involved in the drug trade. EJ confronts Stefan.
Days Recap Today: January 2, 2024
Brady learns that Holly is in a coma. Later, Rafe questions Tate, who tells him the drugs belonged to Holly. EJ walks in and says that it is a lie. He points his finger at Tate, says the drugs belonged to him, and demands his arrest. EJ claims Holly is fighting for her life because of him. EJ calls out Brady and Theresa for both being drug addicts and then promises to make Tate pay. EJ tells Tate, “You are going down“. Theresa argues with EJ, Rafe butts in and notes that there is not enough evidence to arrest the young man. EJ reminds the commissioner that he is responsible for criminal charges in Salem, and he decides when charges are to be filed, and Rafe must comply with his orders.
As Tate tells his truth, Brady demands that he stop and claims he is lying to protect him because the pills are his. Tripp returns, and he informs them that there is no change in Holly’s condition. Rafe tells EJ to go sit with his family, and that he will take Brady downtown and get to the bottom of this. Tripp leaves to go see his mom. Rafe takes Brady to the station and reminds Brady that EJ is demanding someone’s head, but he advises Brady to get his story straight because he knows he is trying to protect his son.

Stefan receives new orders from Clyde over the phone and shares them with Ava. They argue about not wanting to be involved in whatever is happening, especially since people are dying. Ava believes that more lives will be ruined and lost if they do nothing. Stefan expresses his desire to put an end to this situation, and Ava suggests that she has an idea. She has people she can call to make Clyde an offer he can’t refuse. However, Stefan reminds her that she has cut ties with her family. Ava admits this but says that once a Vitali, always a Vitali, and they have no other choice. She tells Stefan that she won’t be able to live with herself if Holly dies.
Ava calls in a favor, and Stefan warns her that she may regret this. Tripp enters the Bistro and reveals that Holly’s condition has not improved. He asks Stefan for a moment alone with his mother. Tripp pleads with his mother to tell him that she is not involved in any of this. However, Ava believes that her son is judging her, and Tripp shares his suspicions. Ava lies, but Tripp begs her to tell him what’s going on. Meanwhile, EJ confronts Stefan and blames him for what happened to Holly.

Marlena finds John asleep on the couch and wakes him up. She greets him with a happy new year and he asks what he missed. Marlena tells him that nobody came in and Tate looked so happy because he was really excited about his date with Holly. John asks Marlena about her New Year’s resolutions, but she reminds him that she doesn’t make them. He then shares his resolution, which is to make sure that he tells his beautiful wife that he loves her before the sun goes down every day. Marlena reciprocates by telling him that she loves him and they share a kiss. Just then, John checks his phone and sees a text from Timothy wishing him a happy new year.
The conversation turns to Konstantin, and John informs Marlena that he and Steve have made sure that Konstantin will be leaving town soon. After their discussion, John and Marlena head to the bedroom. John tries to contact Brady, but there is no response. Theresa enters with Tate, and Marlena inquires about the problem. Theresa tells them that Holly has overdosed and is in a coma, and the situation is not looking good. Additionally, Brady has been arrested. John decides to go to the station to check on Brady while Marlena gives Tate some warm milk. Theresa begs Tate to keep quiet and let Brady take the blame for the incident. Tate is tired and leaves to go lie down. Later after a talk with Marlena, Theresa goes to check on Tate and realizes that he is not there.
John arrives at the station and immediately informs Rafe that he is getting a lawyer for his son. He pleads with Rafe to hold off on any questioning until the lawyer is present. However, Rafe informs him that it isn’t his decision to make. Just then, Tate arrives at the station and insists that he couldn’t let his father take the blame for his actions. He offers himself up for arrest and tells Rafe to arrest him instead.
