Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for July 21, 2023: John and Steve Learn Abe Is Alive!
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on July 21, 2023: Kate comes to check on Paulina. Rafe and Jada redouble their efforts to find Lani. Steve and John receive shocking news. Marlena shares with Kayla that Whitley was a patient of hers.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap July 21, 2023: John and Steve Learn Abe Is Alive!
Steve calls Kayla from the bus station in LA and tells her that he and John are trying to find Jerry and felt that LA was his most likely destination. Kayla wishes them luck and they wait for the bus from Chicago to arrive. When they see Jerry get off the bus they confront him with Whitley’s accusations and he tells them that she was lying. John asks him why she would lie and Jerry tells them that Whitley is the one who did it all.
Jerry lays out the story for John and Steve and they ask if he is saying that Whitley is the one who killed Abe. They are both astounded when he tells them that Abe is alive and that Whitley is keeping him drugged and a prisoner in her apartment. He also tells them that he told Lani everything. They call home determined to stop Whitley from leaving or hurting anyone else.
At the hospital, Kayla tells Marlena about the call from Steve and they talk about Whitley quitting. Marlena confides in Kayla that she treated Whitley as a patient the previous fall and kept records. Kayla remarks that was when Marlena was possessed by the Devil. They go over the file and the tragic story of Whitley’s husband’s accidental death as well as the death of their three cats. Marlena worries that her demonic possession stopped Whitley from being able to properly work through her grief and wants to try and call her.
Kate comes to Paulina’s to check on her and they talk about her grief over Abe and worry for Lani. Kate assures Paulina that Rafe will find Lani but Paulina isn’t sure since he never found Philip when he went missing. Kate confides in Paulina that the reason Philip was never found was that she sent him to a mental health facility out of the country and hid him there for his own good while letting everyone think he was dead. This gives Paulina hope that Abe could still be alive as well.
Rafe goes to the Salem PD to talk to Jada and pick up his belongings. They are strategizing about how to find Lani when a man arrives and identifies himself as US Marshall Sam Gerard and tells them that he is there for Lani. Rafe confesses that they don’t know where she is and they both try to convince Gerard that she wouldn’t have run. Gerard agrees to help them find her but tells them that if she did run she will be serving a longer prison sentence. He activates her ankle monitor so they can track her down together.
At Whitley’s apartment, she tries to act like everything is ok and makes breakfast for all of them. When she tries to feed Lani hers, Lani knocks it out of her hand and says that she is not her mother and that she is crazy. They argue about it and Whitley takes out a syringe and tells Lani that she didn’t want to kill her but she has no choice. Abe looks on in horror as she injects Lani and Lani falls unconscious!
LaterWhitley sits with Abe and tells him that she just wants them to be happy together and that she is going to make sure they can be. Rafe, Jada, and Gerard arrive on the docks after tracking Lani’s ankle monitor and find her unconscious!
