Days of Our Lives Episode Recap, Cast List, and Spoilers for July 5, 2023: Whitley Drugs Abe!
Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on July 5, 2023: Abe is stunned to see Theo. Whitley gives her condolences to Paulina. Jerry runs into Theo and is overcome by guilt. Chanel and Talia have a bit of a rapprochement. Eli and Lani celebrate their anniversary.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap July 5, 2023: Whitley Drugs Abe!
Talia is cleaning up in the Square when Chanel comes out of her bakery, arguing with a delivery person about her flour delivery that she urgently needs to reopen the next day. After she hangs up she asks Talia what she is doing and Talia tells her that it’s part of her community service. They discuss the deal Talia got and Chanel’s new employee at the bakery. Before Chanel leaves Talia apologizes again and asks her to give Paulina her condolences. Chanel agrees and then heads home.
At the Salem PD, Lani and Eli continue to go over the evidence until Lani sees Rafe through the window. They head out into the lobby and Rafe is thrilled to see her. He introduces her to Jada and they discuss the case while Eli steps out to take a call from his boss in DC. When Eli comes back he breaks the bad news that he has to go to Arizona on a case. Rafe offers to supervise Lani’s release while he is gone and Eli and Lani thank him before heading out to spend some time together. Later when Jada is overwhelmed with work, Rafe tells her to take the night off and suggests that they watch the fireworks together somewhere discreet.
At the docks, Theo runs into Jerry at Abe’s memorial and they talk about his accident. Jerry expresses his condolences and apologizes for not saving Abe when he fell in. He tells Theo that he can’t swim and Theo understands and tells him that it wasn’t his fault and Abe wouldn’t want him to die saving him. Jerry feels guilty and is about to come clean when Eli and Lani show up.
Theo asks what Jerry wanted to tell him but he says it was just another apology for his loss and then leaves quickly. Eli and Lani share a suspicious look and then Theo pulls a stuffed bear out of his backpack to put on the memorial. He tells them that Abe won it for him when he was 6 and he slept with it every night. After Theo leaves to check on Paulina, Eli comforts Lani as she looks at the memorial to her father.
Paulina is surprised to see Whitley who tells her that she is there to give her condolences for Paulina’s loss. They sit on the couch together and talk about Abe and his campaigns and his wedding to Paulina. Paulina asks Whitley what Abe’s last words to her were and Whitley tells her that he said Paulina’s name. She is very touched and thanks her before Whitley leaves to go to work. When Chanel gets home to change, Paulina tells her about Whitley’s visit and they discuss Chanel’s talk with Talia. Paulina hopes Talia can concentrate on healing and making a life for herself.
Chanel runs into Talia in the Square and Talia gives her back her apron so Chanel can give it to her new employee. Fireworks start to go off as they look at each other. Paulina watches the fireworks on TV with Theo and tells him about Abe crying when they watched them together last year. Jada and Rafe watch the fireworks together while snuggling on her bed. Eli and Lani watch them together on a blanket in the park and Eli gives her a present of artwork that the twins made for her. Jerry looks at Abe’s memorial on the docks, consumed with guilt.
Abe watches Body and Soul and is surprised to see “Theo” acting on the show. He checks the end credits and is suspicious when the actor’s name is Jerry Prentiss. He is about to leave the apartment to find out what is going on when Whitley comes home. He confronts her about “Theo” and she lies and says that Jerry Prentiss is his stage name. Abe doesn’t believe her and accuses her of lying about everything. He tells her that he is calling the police and grabs the phone but before he can dial, Whitley stabs him in the neck with a syringe filled with sedative. She tells him that he can never leave. Later she sits on the couch with him and they watch the fireworks on TV as tears run down Abe’s face.
