What Happened Today on Days of Our Lives?
In today’s October 28 episode recap of Days of Our Lives, EJ and Johnny get into a heated confrontation. Meanwhile, Leo drops a major life update on Gwen, and Alex shares some surprising news with Stephanie.
Elsewhere, Steve puts Cat on her guard, while Joy and Tate hold another physical therapy session. In the end, EJ is left furious, Gwen gets emotional, Cat delivers a big gift to EJ, and Stephanie teams up with Johnny.

EJ Disowns Johnny in a Brutal Father-Son Showdown
At home, EJ makes a private call to someone, demanding they retrieve George’s laptop before anyone else can get their hands on it. The father-son duo, Johnny and EJ, later cross paths at DiMera Enterprises.
Naturally, things are extremely tense because of recent events. EJ is completely pissed off at Johnny over the whole situation, and the two immediately get into it. Johnny informs his dad about the surveillance footage being handed over to the Salem PD. He pointedly wonders if there is anything on the recording that would incriminate EJ—or anything he does not want the police to see.
EJ assures him there is nothing to worry about on the tape. However, EJ then goes on a tirade about how Johnny has completely destroyed his own family legacy. To say EJ is furious is an understatement! He even goes as far as to tell his son, “I forsake you.”
Johnny stands his ground as his father continues to berate him, with EJ adding, “A father’s disappointment is forever.” Simply put, EJ is done with Johnny for good.
When Johnny finally gets his say, he informs EJ that he has become the exact man he wants to be. He is confident that he is a good man, a good father, and most certainly a better man than EJ will ever be. Johnny could not care less about legacy.
He notes that he would gladly watch the DiMera mansion burn to the ground if that is what it takes to remain a good person. He wants to be someone his son and daughter can be proud of, rather than leaving Chanel to wonder which version of his dad is going to show up. That consistency is something he wants forever. Right then and there, the father and son decide to cut ties for good as EJ walks away.
Steve Warns Cat About EJ as She Gets Dominic’s Birth Certificate
Meanwhile, Cat meets with Steve, and they discuss what happened with Xander before Steve cautions her about how dangerous her boss can be. He warns her that she should probably abort her assignment regarding EJ.
However, Cat makes it clear she is not backing down—especially since Steve is not quitting either! She reveals that EJ tasked her with securing a copy of Dominic Marino’s birth certificate since he has not heard from Rita and has no idea where she is. EJ wants it because he overheard Marlena and Rita arguing about Dominic and the birth certificate.
Cat notes that EJ wants her to trick Marlena to get the document, but Steve tells her that will not be necessary. He reveals that he was the one who gave Marlena the birth certificate in the first place! Steve hands it over to Cat on one strict condition: she can never tell EJ where she actually got it from. On top of that, she must report back to him with anything she or EJ discovers about Dominic.
Alex Shares Surprising News With Stephanie
At home, Stephanie arrives, and Alex informs her about what happened to Xander, leaving her shocked. But that is not the only surprising update her husband has for her. Alex shares that Joy had some slight movement in her leg!
Stephanie is happy to hear it, though she admits she assumed Joy’s recovery would happen much later down the line rather than so soon. Stephanie even confesses that she asked her mom to check the movement in Joy’s leg just to make sure she was not faking her paralysis. While Stephanie was convinced Joy was lying, she admits she was wrong.
The conversation then shifts to Halloween costumes for little Kelsey’s first Halloween, and Stephanie adores the costume Alex picked out.
Joy Flirts With Tate as Alex Walks In
Over at the Kiriakis mansion, Joy chats with Kelsey about her secret plot, hoping that she and Alex will soon be living under one roof—which remains her ultimate goal.
Later, Tate arrives, and Joy tells him about her “miracle.” He is thrilled for her, and they proceed with their PT session. Joy continues to flirt with Tate throughout the session, using him to make it look like she is not pursuing Alex. When Alex eventually walks in, he catches Tate and Joy locked in a tight embrace!
Leo Gives Gwen an Emotional Update About Javi
Over in the Town Square, Gwen is shocked to read about Xander’s shooting in the news. Leo walks up, and the two chat about the ordeal over drinks. During their chat, Leo drops a massive piece of news: he and Javi are officially back together!
Gwen is thrilled for them, having blamed herself for their initial breakup. She is so genuinely happy they reconciled that she gets pretty emotional about it.
Cat Delivers the Birth Certificate as EJ Explodes
Later at the mansion, Cat brings EJ some great news: she successfully secured the birth certificate! She lies right to his face, claiming she managed to get it from Marlena after doing a little digging. Satisfied, EJ asks her to send it over, and she complies before making her exit.
However, EJ’s mood quickly turns sour. After receiving a phone call informing him that his team failed to retrieve George’s laptop, EJ completely loses his temper and hurls an object straight at his father’s iconic portrait!
