Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on Wednesday, September 13, 2023: Rafe hunts for Ava and Harris. Shawn runs into Belle having a public fight. EJ is in hot water. Johnny and Chanel are faced with a difficult decision.

Days of Our Lives Episode Recap Wednesday, September 13, 2023: Talia Is Left Heartbroken

Talia runs into Belle in the Square and Belle comments on the flowers that she’s carrying. Talia tells her that they’re for someone very special. Johnny and Chanel are kissing and then talk about how they ended up back together. Chanel makes it clear that he is who she wants to be with. 

Belle tells Talia how happy she is for her and Talia thanks Belle for helping her get a second chance. Belle encourages her to surprise Chanel with the flowers and Talia gives her one of them to give to Shawn before leaving. Johnny tells Chanel that he hasn’t been this happy in a long time. Chanel is worried about letting Talia down but knows she has to. There’s a knock on the door and it’s Talia.

Talia sees Johnny and says she didn’t mean to interrupt but Chanel tells her that Johnny was just leaving. After he’s gone, Talia gives her the flowers and suggests things for them to do together and Chanel tells her to hold on. Talia asks if anything is wrong. Chanel tells her that Johnny came over to tell her that he still has feelings for her and then tells her that she wants to be with Johnny.

Talia is heartbroken and blames herself but Chanel tries to tell her that it was just bad timing and she really did like her. Talia tells her that she doesn’t have to make her feel better and then leaves after telling Chanel that she never should have told her how she felt. After Talia leaves, Chanel goes to the DiMera mansion to see Johnny.

Jada questions the hitwoman in the hospital but she denies anyone hired her to kill Ava. She tries to claim she is a nurse but Jada doesn’t believe her. At the DiMera mansion, EJ is on the phone with his contact at the hospital, asking how long Jada has been questioning his shooter. After he hangs up he says that it’s up to him to shut her up.

The shooter continues to claim to be a nurse until Jada pulls out the phone they found and reads one of the texts proving she was trying to kill Ava. Jada tells her that if she cooperates then she will talk to the DA for her but before the woman can say anything EJ comes in and claims to be her lawyer. He says that he heard the news about the shooting and decided to help this woman if she’ll let him. 

The woman agrees to let EJ represent her and EJ tells Jada that the interview is over. Jada tells her that she’s making a mistake but tells her that the offer still stands before leaving. After Jada is gone EJ demands to know why Ava is still alive. 

Tripp apologizes to Wendy for cutting their night short but she tells him it’s ok with everything going on. They each go to their own rooms and Tripp is shocked to see Ava and Harris in his. Tripp hugs her and asks what happened and Ava tells him about the shooter. Wendy comes in and Tripp introduces them. 

Tripp asks about Harris and Ava tells him that he saved her life. Tripp and Wendy bring up the things Harris has done and Harris tells them he was brainwashed and just wants to help Ava. Tripp questions if going on the run is a good idea but Ava tells him that Susan is alive. She tells him how she figured it out and that she has had visions of Susan because Susan is using her psychic powers to communicate with her.

Ava says that she has to go find Susan to get EJ to back off. Harris adds that they think she may be in London. Tripp wonders how they are going to get out of the country and Ava tells him that is where he comes in. They tell Tripp about Harris’ contacts who can get them passports but say they need a place to hide in the meantime. Wendy says they can’t hide there because of Li and Trask and suggests that they can get passports quicker.

Wendy tells them that she used to forge IDs for her friends and thinks she can make fake passports too. She says she just needs real ones she can alter and offers up her own. Tripp does the same and she takes pictures of Ava and Harris to use. After she is done Harris is impressed by her work and Ava thanks her. Ava tells Tripp what to tell the police if they ask and they hug goodbye before Harris takes Ava’s hand and they leave out the window they came in from. 

Rafe and another officer burst into the motel room but it’s empty. They search the room and Rafe finds their cut-off hospital ID bracelets. Shawn shows up and Rafe questions why he’s there. Shawn tells him that he heard Rafe on the scanner and wanted to help. Rafe tells him that he’s off duty and thinks he should go. Shawn gets upset and asks Rafe to give him something to do and Rafe tells him that it’s not a good idea because he’s drunk. 

Shawn denies being drunk but Rafe tells him that he can smell it on him. Shawn claims he only had a couple of drinks but Rafe isn’t moved. He tells Shawn to get himself together or he is going to be suspended again. Shawn goes to leave but Rafe says he is in no shape to drive and tells the other officer to drive him home. Belle sees Shawn arguing with the officer in the Square and asks what is going on. 

Shawn tells her what happened with Rafe and she can’t believe he wanted to work drunk. They argue and she tries to tell him that what happened to Bo and Victor wasn’t his fault. She suggests that maybe he should go to rehab but he refuses because he swears he’s not an alcoholic. She tells him that he needs more help than she can give him and he tells her that she’s not being honest.

Shawn brings up her not telling him about Philip and cheating on him with EJ. Belle asks if they can just go home and Shawn refuses. He leaves, telling her that he is going somewhere he won’t be judged. When she can’t catch up to him, she calls and leaves a voicemail asking him to call her. At the Pub, Talia is drinking and thinking back over her relationship with Chanel. Shawn sees Talia and asks her if he can join her. Jada updates Rafe about EJ and the woman and they make a plan to solve the case. EJ tells the woman about who Harris is and vows to take Ava down.
