Salem’s resident firestarter is at it again!
It was revealed to the audience awhile back that Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) was the one who set the cabin fire while Ciara (Victoria Konefal) was still inside. Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) was arrested at the scene and has fought to retain his innocence in the crime.
After some hypnosis sessions with Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), Ben remembered hearing some type of music the night of the fire. Music which he comes to realize is Claire’s custom ringtone on her phone. The latest spoilers from Soap Opera Digest reveal that Ben follows Claire to Smith Island to confront her, and discovers a shocking scene at the Horton cabin.
Claire had caught Tripp (Lucas Adams) in a lie about going to see his father and spotted him and Haley (Thia Megia) being a little too cozy for her liking. Tripp had decided to help Haley go on the run after JJ (Casey Moss) had to turn himself in. Instead of confronting them about the lie, Claire whips out the same lighter that she used in the previous fire to set the cabin ablaze with Tripp and Haley inside.
It looks like Ben will discover the lighter at the scene just in time to be caught with the incriminating evidence in hand by Eli Grant (Lamon Archey). This will lead to Ben’s arrest and the inevitable face-off with the new police commissioner, Eve Deveraux (Kassie Depaiva).
Ben is up against Eve who is working with Claire and is determined to destroy him after he murdered her daughter Paige back in 2015. As well as the growing doubts of his girlfriend, Ciara.
Will Ben be able to finally prove his innocence for the fires? Or will Eve and Claire finally be able to take him down?
