Joy Faces a Frightening Setback
If Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) is not going through it—she’s making sure others are!
Right now, Joy has been suffering severe spinal complications like spinal stenosis, with serious warnings and fears of potential paralysis. Still, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) has been by her side through thick and thin. He isn’t just doing it for Joy’s sake, either—it’s for their daughter, Kelsey. Joy can’t exactly take care of Kelsey right now, especially with a major arm injury keeping her sidelined, so Alex definitely has to step up.
And while he’s handling fatherhood, Joy is standing her ground and making sure Stephanie has no part whatsoever in Kelsey’s life. In fact, if she could kick Stephanie completely out of Alex’s life too… she absolutely would!

Stephanie’s Marriage Is Falling Apart Yet
This medical emergency goes down right while Stephanie (Abigail Klein) is facing possibly the worst time of her life. This entire nightmare with Joy is putting a real strain on Stephanie’s marriage.
Stephanie is feeling like — maybe, just maybe — this might be the end of the fight. Still, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) encourages Stephanie to keep fighting for her marriage—and she better, or else she may lose Alex to Joy. And Joy certainly wouldn’t mind!
Xander and Sarah Still Have Feelings
Meanwhile, Days spoilers for September 9 reveal that Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) reflect on what might have been. We are clear on one thing: Xander still loves Sarah, and vice versa; Sarah still loves Xander. However, Sarah has moved on with Brady (Eric Martsolf), while Xander has yet to really move on.
On top of all the romantic angst in Salem, look for Steve (Stephen Nichols) to update Brady on the ongoing Coriseal investigation.
