EJ Vs. Salem
The promo opens with EJ DiMera declaring, “Father built an empire, and I must carry his vision forward.”
Meanwhile, Lexie is home and quickly gets mixed up in everything going on.
She warns that the DiMera name and company could be something better. And apparently, she is not the only one who thinks so.
When Johnny and Theo chat at the office, Johnny points out that they have an opportunity to leave a different legacy for their kids than the one that was left for them.
While they are plotting to make the company greater, Philip and the Kiriakis family are plotting for their own company. He warns that if EJ finds out they used DiMera money to make the loan payments, then they will lose everything. However, Kate warns them that they have to stand together as one, or else they could go down.
In another scene, Lexie comes through the tunnels, and Kristen insists that she doesn’t have to hide anything. However, Lexie reminds her that if she thought she had something to hide, she wouldn’t have come through the living room in the first place.
Romance and Big Drama in Salem
Moving into the romance side of things, Love is in the air this summer, but it comes with a huge side of drama. Cat sits down for a session with Dr. Marlena Evans, who cuts right to the chase and asks if the connection between Cat and EJ is strictly personal or professional.
Kate and Roman are also at odds—he’s furious, thinking they were done with all the lies, but clearly that’s not the case.
Eli surprises Lani with a sweet afternoon romance, Kayla is grateful to have Steve by her side, Belle and Chad share a kiss, and Sarah and Brady exchange “I love yous.”
Despite Sarah moving on, Xander Kiriakis refuses to let go. In a therapy session, Xander tells Marlena that he can still see the love shining in Sarah’s eyes.
However, a cautious Marlena delivers a harsh warning, telling Xander that he might just be deluding himself into believing Sarah actually wants to get back together with him.
Later, a bitter Xander warns Sarah that she does not want to end up in EJ’s deadly crosshairs.
In other Salem news, Philip and Gabi talk, and he tells her that money cannot buy love, and it definitely cannot fix what she broke.
Then there’s poor Rachel, who gets the news about Sophia. She gets emotional as she wonders if the same thing could happen to her if the doctors at Bayview cannot help her, just like they weren’t able to help Sophia.
Chanel’s Health Crisis and Stephanie’s Gun Crisis
Meanwhile, Chanel is going through a health crisis. The cancer is taking a toll, and she demands answers from Dr. George about what effects this will have on her baby.
At the same time, the town is also facing a contamination scare. Steve informs Johnny that if the tainted drugs are still out there, then Salem is looking at a public health crisis.
Plus, Theo questions Johnny about what other heinous things he may have been covering up.
Out for Blood
Gwen Rizczech is also out for blood. She corners EJ and spits, “You stabbed me in the back, so I’m returning the knife.” A frantic race begins through the streets of Salem to stop EJ’s latest scheme, with allies praying they can do just that in time. However, Xander warns Sarah that she does not want to end up in EJ’s crosshairs.
At long last, Dimitri is back. This time, Leo approaches him and begs him to do something for him since he won’t make a deal with Rafe.
Then we see that EJ is furious when he learns what Kristen has done. “You tried to murder my son,” he yells, getting right in her face.
At the Brady Pub, Holly tells Ari that no place in Salem feels safe right now. Lexie lashes out at EJ. Susan warns EJ that he is not Stefano, and she refuses to let him become that monster.
In other parts of town, Stephanie shoots someone. “You loaded a gun on an innocent person and fired,” Jada points out. As for Alex, he is on edge as he asks Joy for Kelsey, but what exactly has happened to their daughter?
EJ and Sarah clash, Holly and Tate clash, Chanel is bleeding, Chad confronts Cat, Lexie ends up back in the hospital, and EJ defends his actions. “Whoever my dad is using to drop these breadcrumbs is out there. It’s better if we just not spread the word,” Chad tells Belle.
